"First, the good points; The front of house staff were delightful and the breakfast tea was superb. Unfortunately however the kitchen and food were hopeless. We waited close to an hour for our food to arrive, and then it was average at best. Meals described...in the menu as including two eggs, arrived with one. Welsh Rarebit on toast had solidified. Baked beans were a small pot of mainly juice. Disappointed we wasted a valuable hour of our bank holiday. There are many better places to eat in Hove."

"Cool and friendly staff, listen to my request as I like cold coffee. For the people that complaint about extra hot coffee and working in the industry for many years I’m sure they don’t want to burnt your palate, or burn the milk and get...complaints, maybe next time ask for your cup to be heated with hot water. Is the first time I’m visiting as I always thought it was a pub but is going to become a favourite . Also the chicken and bacon sandwich with pesto mayo is delicious !"

"It was my fisrt time in Brighton and I found this place by chance. It was really late and I was starving so I went inside without even noticing it. The interns were really nice, colourful and cosy, there were tables with chirs all of differernt styles and some armachirs where you can seat and take your time with a nice cup of tea or coffee. The atmosphere was really relaxing and I enjoyed my stay there. I went to the counter to order my food. I took a look at the menu and I've decided to try the red lentils and vegetable curry with rice and naan. It was really tasty! Fter lunch I've tooka flat white and a piece of brownie. I was really difficult to resist the temptation of trying on! They have really nice cakes and all of them look super tasty!"

"As someone who is in the high risk category for Covid-19, I have been avoiding most spaces that just don't seem to be taking social distancing and track trace properly. However, Down to Earth feels so incredibly safe to me, with regular cleaning and everyone being well-spaced at tables! I can't fault the politeness of the staff who are dealing with such an impossible situation with amazing patience and politeness. They were a little shaken after a man swore at them for gently asking him to wear a mask, and then carried on serving us cheerily, and did so well despite having to deal with such rude people as they attempt to enforce government policy (he never said he was exempt, just hurled abuse and stormed off). The coffee is delicious and the vegan cinnamon buns are to die for, so if you're like me and you're trying to keep yourself and those around you safe and you still want to get out every now and again, I cannot recommend this place enough, and the one in Kensington Gardens too!"
