"Went to eat here for the first time. A lot of options we asked for were sold out already. The food was not seasoned at all and only luke warm. Also we had “homemade lemonades” (4€ that tasted like water really y’all? My friend wanted to pay with the card, but was told to spend at least 20€ (her bill was 17€ . We asked if they could make an exception, but they refused to do so. Knowing that the rule of having to reach a certain amount to be able to pay with the card is total bs and actually just depends on how decent the place is, we were kinda mad. None of us had cash left either so we couldn’t help her out. In the end my friend had to buy a cake she didn’t even like (cause no choices and got snapped on by one of the waitresses twice. We were really looking forward to eating here, but won’t make it back again."

"This is the cafe in the Kunsthalle right in the heart of the Roemerberg (center of the old town). You would never think a cafe in such a location would have such unique food, but this one does. I came here for brunch and had...an omlette with meat that was quite good. I could see they also had a variety of other nice dishes."

"As the rating below (written by falafffel) I agree to the ice cream flavor quite well, I had a rusty (baked with milk,) super creamy and rich! but the shovel itself was 2€ (as it was a special taste!) that I think is a bit too expensive. Nevertheless, the taste was very good, and their sorbets are all vegan."

"Seit drei Jahren gehe ich mehrmals wöchentlich in den Cooking Ape. Das Essen ist abwechslungsreich und man hat täglich die Auswahl zwischen mehreren Gerichten in der Preiskategorie von fünf bis zehn Euro.Es gibt einen täglichen Newsletter per E-Mail, der zwischen 10 und 11 Uhr verschickt wird. Häufig findet man darin exotische Gerichte mit Mango-Gemüse oder Garnelen. Oder regionale Küche - vom Schnitzel über die Grüne Soße bis hin zum Tafelspitz.Das ist jeden Tag etwas anderes, frisch zubereitet, bio und täglich auch mit vegetarischen und veganen Angeboten. Wem das alles zu ausgefallen ist, für den gibt es stets Pasta (mit Pesto, Arrabiata, Bolo ...) und frische Salate.Man freut sich also bereits am Vormittag auf Mittagessen. Zwischen 12 und 15 Uhr geht man dann rüber. Meist ist die Bedienung sofort da. Hier dutzt man sich, es ist alles ein wenig studentisch angehaucht. Insgesamt ist es ein sehr familiäres Team mit lockerem Umgangston: Der Chef bedient genau wie die Aushilfe und man merkt, dass hier Menschen mit Herzblut an der Arbeit sind. Das Restaurant ist nicht gemütlich, man hat sich stattdessen für rustikale Möbel, Betonwände und Stahldeko entschieden. Für ein Geschäftsessen genau richtig. Eine sachliche klare Struktur, die die Konzentration auf das Wesentliche ermöglicht.Man bestellt also, die Bestellung geht sofort per iPad an die Küche und keine fünf Minuten später ist der Teller schon auf dem Tisch. Das ist sensationell schnell. Gerade bei Suppen geht der Teller in dem Moment, wo die Bestellung aufgegeben wurde schon aus der Küche und man hat ihn 30 Sekunden später vor sich.Was die Qualität betrifft, bin ich insgesamt sehr zufrieden. Ich habe mehrere hundert Mal im Cooking Ape gegessen und vielleicht drei bis vier Mal war ich mit etwas nicht ganz zufrieden. Das passierte mal beim Fisch, der nicht ganz durchgebraten war oder den Nudeln, die zu kurz im Wasser waren. Aber eben: Das sind die großen Ausnahmen. In 99% der Fälle war das Essen prima zubereitet. Vor allem bei den Stammgerichten ist das Niveau der Küche erstaunlich und muss sich vor gehobenen Restaurants nicht verstecken.Neben der Schnelligkeit der Bedienung sind vor allem das klare Bekenntnis zu bio, die frische eigene Zubereitung (keine Convenience) und nachhaltigen Zutaten zu loben. Das ist generell selten - und in der Preiskategorie die absolute Ausnahme."
