"We discovered La Chata on our way to the Choco Museo. We had time for breakfast and chose the wonderful fruit plate with yogurt and granola. They serve cinnamon coffee which is a rare find. We returned this last Sunday for dessert as we had...been to see a musical group that included lunch. Again we were so impressed with food, service and atmosphere. Enjoyed flan and horchata.. so authentic and a rare find on menus. We plan to have a full meal when we return next year. A beautiful view of the waterfront overlooking the Malecon from the 2nd floor"

"We go to this restaurant every time we come to vallarta. We always order Frieda'S dinner which consists of a margaritas or tequila to start, followed by peanut soup (sounds soup trance but is fabulous), then a chilled chile rellano topped with cream and pomegranate seeds, then your entree--I always have the chicken mole--wine is included--and then flan for dessert. This whole dinner with the beverages was $56 US for TWO!! The restaurant is filled with Frieda Kalo memorabilia and pictures of famous patrons who have dined there. We love it"

"We went for a late night dinner on our first time there seeing that it had great ratings online and was a walking distance from our hotel. We were a little hesitant because the prices were showing 2-3 dollar signs and we were low on cash because our flights got cancelled that day so we didn't have too much money on hand anymore anyways, we went in and the atmosphere was just absolutely perfect, the live music was so relaxing and fun, the service was absolutely great even on such a busy night, and the food!!! It was just so delicious I can't even begin to describe it! I ordered BBG ribs with coconut shrimp which came with fries, bread and 4 sauces for the shrimp (tartar sauce, mango sauce, chipotle and catsup - all of which gave the shrimp a different unique taste!) My boyfriend ordered some shrimp tacos which also came with fries and salsa. He really liked it too! And note, we ate there at the end of our trip which meant we've already tried and eaten at so many other restaurants and this one is sure to be unforgettable - we also got invited to a strangers wedding who were eating there too definitely a must visit again and again, which we did the night after to try their other dishes we ordered the seafood caserole and shrimp enseladas, did not disappoint!!! We spend about $600+ pesos each night including tips and drinks"

"I went in on a Friday afternoon around 2pm was sat immediately. I ordered local mineral water the bubbles were light very refreshing. Next I ordered Passion Margarita came quickly what I did not know was 2 for 1 yippee my next margarita was watermelon. Included with my meal was fresh chips and house special of bubbling cheese and beans, with 6 house made salsas 3 in varying degrees of spice and 3 savory. My main was a Beef Carpaccio it was amazing best I ever had topped with artichoke fritters and caper powder. Drinks were very balanced. Service was amazing."

"Ate a few times for breakfast and the food was consistently mediocre and service was poor. Me and my partner that waiters cater to big groups and repeat customers they know. Twice I have to get up and pour my own coffee... waiter saw me and just ignored me. The yogurt jar is not big and always empty..nobody refilling it."

"We had wanted to go for dinner, and the restaurant we wanted to go to was closed as it was 9pm.We decided to walk over to El Patron Barbacoa.I had ordered the molcajete with steak & a BeerFriend order steak and shrimpWe started with some chips and Salsa, followed by our drinks. We chatted amongst ourselves for a bit, then the food came & that was also the last time we saw our waiter!The food, was flavorful and the portions were adequate. We had to physically wave down the waiter and ask for more drinks and some water. As dinner was coming to a close still no drinks. Waiter was busy having fun with other customers in the restaurant.As we were getting ready to leave the waiter realized he forgot our drinks, he apologized, but there was no coming back from the poor service we received.If you go I hope your service will be better than the service we received."
