"Very popular and the food looked good so we sat down outside which is very pleasant. The waiters spoke several languages and took our order quickly. They had just apologised to a nearby table because of the wait when the couple complained. However, we weren't in a rush. They then came back to say they had run out of a certain ice cream but the drinks came quickly. Unfortunately, the Francesinha we ordered went to another table where the mother ate her meal whilst the rest of her family waited another 40 mins for theirs. We had to wait another 30 mins for another one to be cooked! An hour for a fancy, but every day, pork cheese sandwich in tomato sauce with chips was not really acceptable."

"When we visited Lamengo, we appeared in pastelaria scala. we have the leading role in the variety of pastries and cakes behind the glass displays, it was busy with local people, hardly a tourist in itself. a young man (student) saw that we were a little confused. with the diversity of choice and perfectly supported us that he would deliver our choices to our seat. we managed to grab a stand and enjoyed some very fine local cakes/berries with coffee. a wonderful place to sit and watch the local life."
