"What a surprise to find Nini cooking up authentic Thai in the middle of the snow covered Alps..Nini is a young Thai girl married to an Austrian with a new-born child, working hard in this modest eatery. Her German is excellent and her English is good. There are about 4 seats, so it is best treated as a take-away. However I found myself having a few Singha beers (sold there) as I watched Nini and her friend prepare my food from fresh. This took about 10 minutes.The food is tasty and I found myself coming back again during one week's skiing in St. Johann. This food is great value and a good alternative to traditional Austrian dishes which are the norm here.As will0w19 points out; there is also a good restaurant next door. It is different enough from Nini's to give it a go and the food is also of good quality. A good alternative if you cannot sample Nini's delights.Lucky St. Johann!"

"This restaurant is situated just down from the peak of the Kitzbuehler Horn mountain. It is an excellent place to stop for refreshment as it is a short walk down from the summit through the Alpine garden with its range of alpine flowers and plants. It is a great place to take shelter in inclement weather and provides outstanding views from isnside and out on the extensive terrace in good conditions. Drinks and food are quite average really and there is a small souvenir shop. It is possible make your way down from here either by road, path or cable car (as the station is situated here.) I also understand that you can get a replacement battery for an e-cycle from here (although this information was relayed to me by a local person down in the town and I cannot confirm it.) The restaurant staff were friendly and helpful."

"While hiking up to the Kitzbuehler horn out of St Johann this is one of the first huttes you walk by, not as great and entertaining as the Harschbichl hutte higher up but still a nice place to stop"

"My wife and I visited Cafe Rainer on a very busy wet winters day. However, we found a free table and waited to be served and waited!! After about 15 minutes our order for hot drinks and cakes was taken, after a short period of...time our lovely cakes arrived, expecting our hot drinks to arrived in no time. However, we again waited and waited and waited a little longer all the time trying to attached our waiters attention. After a considerable amount of time we managed to attract his attention acknowledged that he had forgotten to bring our drinks. We then waited for about another five minutes for them to arrive. When our drinks finally arrived my coffee was only lookwarm, so I informed our waiter who acknowledged this and waited for a replacement that never arrived. So in the end I had to miss out on my Kaffee and Kuchen and only have Kucken. In fairness to the waiter when we came to pay our bill he only charged us for the cakes, which was to be expected as I had only taken one sip from my coffee. Overall a poor experience, I think the Cafe my have not been expecting such a busy Monday and were over run with customers on a wet day. However, our overall experience was poor. Especially as I was so looking forward to my Kaffee and Kuchen."

"We did the drive up and walked the last bit. Driving cost us (a family of three) €19 and this got us to a few hundred meters below the top. The final walk was good with some fun 'climbing ' experiences on the way. At the top the views are fabulous, take the time to go right up passed Gipfelhaus to the transmitter. The views are worth it. The restaurant, like all others in these sorts of places, is pricey for what you get but order a cold beer, or coffee, enjoy the view and eat your sandwich."
