"Just like the previous Sun Sui Wah restaurant we went to last week, this was another one we haven’t come to in quite a few years. I don’t recall ever coming here for dim sum but we have been here for dinner.We arrived before 11:30 on this sunny Friday morning and had to wait less than 10 minutes for a table.The 2 of us ordered the following 5 dishes:1. Fried scallop with Portuguese sauce (3 pieces for $7.25) – unusual dish that tasted alright. Deep fried dumping filled with mashed and diced taro and scallop pieces; not more 1 diced scallop per dumpling. 3 out of 5 rating.2. Steamed pork shiu mai (4 pieces for $7.25) – very average dish that is extremely over priced. 2.75 out of 5 rating.3. Deep fried shrimp roll with preserved egg and ginger (3 pieces for $7.25) – different and unique taste with the egg. 3 out of 5 rating.4. Rice rolls with spareribs hot pot ($8.80) – Tasty and large serving. 3.25 out of 5 rating.5. Deep fried squid ($8.80) – fair sized serving with sliced jalapenos, moist and tender. 3.25 out of 5 rating.There was a 10% discount for the “regular” dim sum dishes; the first 3 items above. In addition, there was no charge for tea.The total bill after the 10% discount but before tips was $39.03.Ratings Breakdown:• Price and portion size – a bit on the expensive side. 3 out of 5 rating.• Quality – above average. 3.25 out of 5 rating.• Taste – average. 3 out of 5 rating.• Service – good. "We made reservations after the opening hours, so it wasn't too busy when we were there. the place was quickly filled up and I could soon find out why. after ordering various dishes the tee arrived and then within minutes were the first. our dishes available. within a few minutes after that, all our dishes we had ordered were ready and waiting for us for the table. the service was fast and the waiter who served us was friendly enough. the bus boys were also fast to remove all the plates that were emptied as we made our way through the dishes. my friend has made the order, since I never know the names of what I eat, except through. since most customers appeared as Asian, it did not surprise me that our waiter needed another person who spoke better English to process our payment at the end of the meal (we tried to tell them that they share the bill, but finally gave up explaining and putting everything on a credit card). a wonderful meal that I will definitely return for."

"We started off with the Caesar Salad for two, I think this was good. I have to asked for some fresh ground pepper, but the dressing was good. The croutons were not made on the premisses. Next came the bruschetta, this was not what you might expect. It was like a pizza and it was not good. I was a Italian bun that was not fresh covered in cheese and very little tomatoes and garlic. It was terrible. I ordered the fettichini carbonara, this was so bad I returned this to the kitchen after 6 bites. It was covered with Italian seasoning, the cream sauce was terrible. I am sorry, but I cannot recommend this place, I will not go back!"

"Friends introduced us to this restaurant even though we frequent this strip mall and have walked by it numerous times through the years. They said that the sweet and sour pork was really good so I had to try the dish for myself. Over the years, I can count the number of times on one hand I have ordered take out Chinese food. Over the last 4 weeks I have ordered take out 3 times; basically too lazy to cook after going to the gym. On this last occasion, I ordered Singapore fried rice noodles $9.50) and Cantonese sweet and sour boneless pork $10.95). The total bill with taxes came to $21.47. Both were authentic dishes and tasted pretty good. The rice noodle dish was advertised as spicy but not spicy at all. I’ve had this dish at other restaurants and it is never spicy; basically a mild curry powder used in the dish. The sweet and sour pork had the right amount of sweet and sour. On another occasion we ordered the black bean sauce beef rice noodles flat wide noodles like fettuccine); another authentic tasting dish. Ratings Breakdown • Quality and taste – above average. 3.5 out of 5 rating • Portion size vis à vis price – Dishes were above average value given the size of the dish and the amount paid. For example, the Singapore noodle dish is in the $15 range at Number 9 Restaurant. 3.75 out of 5 rating • Service – The takeout order took less than 10 minutes. 3.75 out of 5 rating I would rate the overall food experience as trending towards good 3.75 out of 5 rating. Notes Tips: • If you’re going to order sweet and sour pork, order the Cantonese Sweet and sour pork that is deep fried and then pan fried the authentic version). The other version is battered deep fried pieces of pork served with a sweet and sour sauce. On all 3 occasions I have ordered the Cantonese sweet and sour pork. • Credit cards accepted • Limited seating inside – seating for approximately 10 people. • 10% discount for takeout over $25. "We arrived after 1:00 PM on this Wednesday afternoon and the restaurant was not too busy.The 2 of us ordered the following 5 dishes:• #6 - Steamed black bean sauce spareribs with squash ($4.95). The ribs were okay; a little darker in colour (darker marinade?) and nothing spectacular. Better elsewhere.• #15 - Shrimp and enoki mushrooms wrapped in bean curd skin ($5.95 for 3 pieces). Taste was okay again just average.• #23 – Bean curd with fish paste stuffed in rice rolls ($6.50) – unusual dish that tasted okay; came with 3 dipping sauces – sweet soy, peanut and hoisin sauce• #44 – Pan fried pot stickers ($5.95 for 4 dumplings) – fair sized dumplings; just okay tasting• #84 – Deep fried squid in spicy salt ($8.80) – small portion for the price; could have been crispier. Came with some deep fried minced garlic and chilli. There is another squid dish #64 “Deep Fried Squid w/Spicy Salted Pepper” for $9.80 – the server told me these were the tentacles whereas the dish I ordered were the body pieces which I prefer. I’ve had a lot better at other restaurants.There was a $1.20 per person tea charge.The total bill before tips was $36.28.Ratings Breakdown:• Price and portion size – value could be better. Quite a few of the dumplings were in the $4.95-$5.95 range. 3 out of 5 rating.• Quality – average. 3 out of 5 rating.• Taste – inconsistent. 3 out of 5• Service – could be better. Dishes arrived within an acceptable time limit. I asked for chilli sauce twice and I never did get it. 2.75 out of 5The overall experience rates a 3 out of 5 – just barely average.Notes & Tips• This restaurant is located on the second floor of the Garden City Shopping Centre (corner of Garden City and Blundell Road)• Credit cards accepted• No pushcarts.
