"Relatively small restaurant but still had a table available for our family of four at 8:30pm. Very relaxed vibe, fantastic freshly cooked food, great wine. They bought samples of the desserts to the table, they looked so good we ordered all four and they didn’t disappoint. The complimentary port after our meal was a lovely touch and serving my wife’s in a huge glass add some fun. Our favourite restaurant to date on our holiday this year"

"I have been eating at the green door for over 13 years since I was a little boy, I had been telling my girlfriend how amazing the food is, this week we flew out for the weekend so she could finally try. On arrival we was greeted by Francisco who has always remembered me and my family, he knows we love big fish and always ensures he has fresh, and different options for us to try. We had the delicious Garlic prawns to start, followed by the best sea bass you could possibly find, large enough for 2 to share. I have tried all the 5* restaurants in London and and nothing comes close to the green doors fish. To finish we had the traditional almond tart which was just as good as the main meal. I must have eaten in this restaurant over 20 times and it just gets better and better, thank you Francisco and family as always for your hospitality and amazing food. It's the number 1 seafood restaurant in Alvor, for me possibly no 1 in the world, I urge you too try you won't be disappointed."

"August in Alvor can be a challenge for restaurants that are run off their feet! In fact, we did not get great service at a couple this year but A Gruta staff were excellent. We ate here twice for our week trip. We have eaten here on previous trips but never really gave it the credit it deserves. Over the two visits, the Bream, the ribs, the Tuna and the PiriPiri, all beautiful. The prices are good as well compared to the same in other restaurants. Highly recommend it and will be back there on our next trip (probably more than once"

"Since most bars/restaurants can 't do a decent cocktail we decided to go to a cocktail bar . Waited ONE hour to get the first round of cocktails after we got up to leave twice and we were told on the way . Cocktails were horrendous. I watched the guy behind the bar either Google the cocktails or read the how to menu . Would definitely not recommend."
