"Very fun, friendly, historic restaurant, and the absolute best place to try bouillabaisse. We had the calamari and the bouillabaisse for lunch, and it was so delicious and the perfect start to our seaside vacation in France. Would definitely recommend for anyone coming to Marseille and the south of France."

"We were a party of wanting to eat out on a November Friday. The restaurants we had looked at in advance were all fully booked. We asked our hotel reception for a recommendation of a simple. cozy restaurant at the Old Port. We did...not want anything too fancy or expensive. They suggested La Cantine and after checking it online, we made a reservation. The menu was influenced by Italian cuisine, but there were many local elements as well, which was nice. The daily specials board was great. Our group had a nice meal, e.g. octopus carpaccio, foie gras, pan-fried calamari (highly recommended, it was served ever so lightly breaded with a generous serving of green salad), gorgonzola steak and some delicious desserts with a local red wine. The service was attentive and friendly. The location in the Old Port is very convenient. Not a spectacular dining experience, but exactly what we wanted that evening nice and simple."

"I've been coming every year for several years. Always thrilled, so much so I make to discover this bcp restaurant in the world. My last visit was unfortunately more up to my very long service expectations. The dishes are less generous I have the impression. Before it was a good quality price ratio. Today as much. For the nice dessert but not exceptional for the thousand-sheets. Bcp of cream paste not dry enough and 3 strawberries running after. Really bad..."

"My wife and I arrived in this charming port on the outskirts of Marseille and,after checking in, we were steered to this family-run restaurant. We felt like distinct outsiders when we arrived, but by time we left we were charmed by the brothers and (possibly) one sister who split their time greeting and serving neighbors and friends and some vacationers with a bonhomie that comes from knowing that their fine wines and fresh seafood makes for contented patrons. My wife and I started with fried calamari that had a balance of spice, heat and crunch that made it irresistible. After consulting with one of the brothers, my wife elected to order grilled sea bass caught earlier that day, and I agreed to be the second in the dish for two that the two plusPound fish provided. It was somewhat pricey at 50 euros (about $56), but it was delicious, with just a dab of olive oil. It was served with baby asparagus that had the perfect texture that comes only with care in preparation. The same could be said for the Hollandaise Sauce that lightly complemented rather than overwhelmed the asparagus. Not so impressive were a dry green salad and a mixture of vegetables that were novel to me and not very inspiring."
