"The Bakehouse Cafe is a bit of an oasis on the SH1 edge of the CBD. Plenty of nearby and adjacent off-street vehicle parking. Mostly covered walking to public toilets 60m away. The Cafe has an excellent range of cakes, slices and muffins as well as savouries, pies, chips and other deep fried items. Loved my coffee too. Food can be 'made to order ' if you prefer. Substantial dining space inside, and some outside tables too. Warm and cosy space in spite of being so expansive. Helpful and pleasant team members."

"Was driving from Auckland down to Taupo, so needed somewhere for a pit stop in between. Was greeted by friendly staff upon entering and handed menus. There is some seating in the front and more seating at the back, so do check if the front looks busy. The menu has a good range of options, I was able to find some thing for everyone in my family. I chose the poached eggs on ciabatta with a side of bacon, which was reasonably priced. Would definitely come back again."
