"Whilst visiting friends last year who live a few miles away from this place we decided to partake of a bar supper and a pint of ale. On arrival there were two police officers in the car park trying to stop two drunk thugs from murdering each other. Within 30 minutes of entering the pub a second incident broke out between two idiots who had also downed more than there share. Generally disappointed with service whilst ordering our beer, got the impression the staff were wholly uninterested in impressing us with even a smile . Decided not to stay and eat. My view is avoid at all costs."

"A bit from the busy road, but a short walk from the north bridge. the menu was a great exchanging experience, uttering and moaning to start with two glass prosecco rose best. service discreet, but present and react. good atmosphere for the occasion."

"Number Seven is in the gorgeous Edinburgh Residence hotel. The dining room is a lovely room that is very intimate. The menu is small but everything on it was absolutely delicious. Their new chef has selected very well. And the staff were extremely polite and friendly. I would definiitely visit again!"

"Looking for something special for our anniversary, we decided to try the 7 course tasting menu, with paired drinks. It's clear the kitchen had a great time coming up with the dishes, and that level of enthusiasm and skill was evident in every bite. We were especially impressed with the Monk-fish, Venison Carpaccio and Beef Cheeks; all of which went incredibly well with the paired wines. The service matched the cooking, with friendly, knowledgeable and engaging front of house crew that made the time we were there relaxed and enjoyable. Also whisky in wine. Genius."

"With a 25% off food we could not resist another visit to one of our favourite French restaurants in the heart of Edinburgh. It has a homely, quirky atmosphere. We chose the two course menu. Starters were delicious. I had the aubergine tower and hubby had the oof cocotte leek fondue. For main I had Tagine of lamb boulettes and hubby had steak. I don’t often eat meat but these meatballs in a lightly spiced bean sauce was amazing. Definitely recommend. In fact hubby wishes he had chosen that instead of steak! Service was excellent. Anna was brilliant. Knew when to chat and when to leave us. She’s multi lingual and can speak Spanish fluently with some German. All in all a very nice afternoon leaving us with nice memories"
