"Why people flock to the poor restaurants across the harbour in St Jean de Luz o don’t know! Walk across the bridge to Ciboure and near the Marie is Maitenia. Certainly the locals know about it. We booked a table and sat outside with locals...and others who had found it been told about here. Food was fantastic and drinks inexpensive but good. Service was very good and both waiting staff were completely bi lingual. Try everything as it’s good but would recommend marinated peppers as well as friture mecluchon fried hake. Would go back again when down this way again"

"Authentic, seasonal, inventive and extremely good food is to be had at this location. We found the staff to be really friendly and very very helpful. A total breath of fresh air in comparison to all the tourist traps just across the way in Saint Jean de Luz. Ciboure is lovely and if you eat at this establishment you even get to watch pilota which is a traditional basque game – there is a court right outside the bar. This is a true experience immersion with some tourists and also some genuine local people who live here. Highly recommended! Ps. A lovely wine list as well"

"Attracted by the praiseworthy comments, we were delighted to test this address. the service is attentive and our requests have been satisfied. It was in the kitchen that we stayed on our hunger. The dishes are good, but not successful. always lacks, a seasoning, a little sauce, to balance or make a dish less dry. On the other hand, the demand from the salt server, olive oil and meat sauce has always had a favorable echo. In a restaurant like this, we shouldn't have to do it."
