"If they haven't gone to the booth, or if it's a past, since they're leaving now! that was the best calamari I had for a long time. light and fluffy with a beautiful crispy, I was skeptical about the sauce, because it was different than the one I normally like, but my quality it was phenomenal! we had surfing and shaking and it was the best of both worlds! the steak was cooked to perfection and my son loved his mac and cheese and kartoffels kartoffeln. I like where the new owners take this place and I am happy to see the progress!"

My only complaint was how absolutely rude our waiting staff was the first night there. She didn't want to. to be there and take it on us. I'll go somewhere else if I have a choice next time."

After being hit hard by Hurricane Ian they are working to rebuild, but in the meantime have outdoor seating and a food truck in their parking lot! "Victor was an excellent server. Be sure to request him. The food at this location was not quite as good as the Ft Myers beach location. The Yucatán shrimp were perfectly cooked but the sauce was not as rich as remembered. The fried grouper sandwich was ok not great. The conch chowder was excellent. For the best ‘Doc Ford’ experience go to Dixie Fish"

"First off, I highly recommend Sunshine Seafood Cafe. The food is outstanding and the staff works so hard to take care of YOU. However, i do love reading the negative reviews from people who clearly don't understand where they are (that's sarcasm). I gives me great perspective on the spoiled, rude people that unfortunately vacation her. Let's take a moment to understand...Sunshine Seafood Cate is on an island, about a 1 hour one way drive for their employees and food delivery. Not to mention the clear labor shortage that makes it a bigger challenge for restaurants like this to survive. And yes, It will be more expensive than your local neighborhood restaurants back home, get over it. In fact, don't come if all you'll do is complain. Likely, you're visiting from someplace north to escape,the cold and stupid Covid restrictions as well. We Floridians are proud to be a free state, but seriously, look at the facts....if you're from Minnesota who complain the most, all the masks and lockdowns did you no better. As I said, Sunshine's food is fantastic, and yes the staff is human so they do get frustrated like I'm sure you do. I have no doubt they get tired of whining from Yankees who escape their miserable existence to visit the most beautiful island in the most free state that exists in the US."
