"This bistro, in the open-kitchen style, is on the first floor (second floor to Americans) of the completely refurbished Northcliffe Surf Life Saving Club. You have to show your Driver's Licence of other form of identification, in accordance with Queensland's Liquor and Gaming legislation, to enter. You can either walk up the winding stairs to where the Bistro resides (with poker machines behind you at the top), or get the (small) lift if you're mobility-impaired. The Bistro is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, displays specials, accepts reservations (essential on weekends and during school holidays) and employs the friendliest and most helpful staff. It pays to join the Club if you're going to be at Surfers or on the Gold Coast for any length because members receive minimum 10% discounts on food and beverages. The food selection is impressively large, ranging from seafood, pizzas, 'burgers, salads, hors d-oeuvres to Asian and chicken/beef, plus children's special menus. The wines are bar-priced but not excessive for this part of the Gold Coast. I enjoyed crumbed lamb cutlets with gravy (extra) and a good amount of varied vegetables and more chips than I could eat. You order and pay at the cashier (cash or credit cards), stating your table number, and the meals will be delivered to your table. I've previously enjoyed their Chicken Teriyaki, and am always bowled over by the proximity of the surf and sand. Of course it has that "clubby" atmosphere, and can get quite crowded and noisy at times, which is why an off-season lunch works perfectly for us!"

"My partner and I came here one night as the place seemed kind of full with very few seats left so we thought the food must taste good, we approached the waiter and asked for a table for 2 and he said there is about a 30 minute wait for food as they are busy and we said that was fine as 30 minutes isn’t too long, once we agreed the waiter corrected himself and said maybe not 30 more like 40 – 50 minutes, so we said that was rather long so probably not and left. A couple nights later we returned again and came early around 6pm to make sure there wouldn’t be a long wait again, there were only 2 other tables so we thought perfect. We took a seat inside near the left window and were brought out our menus and table water. We noticed they had a specials board so thought we’d try something on there. When ordering we were told that the oyster shots we had ordered from the specials board was sold out for the day, so that was a little disappointing, perhaps they could’ve removed anything that wasn’t available from their specials board. We ordered pickles which came out first and to our surprise the taste was really unpleasant, we were hoping for something a little tangy and spicy similar to kimchi but were given something that smelt like drain water and tasted worse so we left the pickles untouched for the rest of the evening.. Next the edamame were brought out my partner enjoyed these very much. Our salmon sashimi slices were very tasty and fresh. Lastly our vegetable tempura which was nice but dipping sauce tasted watered down and rather bland so we kept soaking the entire tempura piece under the dipping sauce. All in all it was a great find, we would definitely consider returning however will remember not to order the pickles ever again."

"We were in Surfers Paradise for a week with friends, who introduced us to this restaurant. Once we got through the language barrier with the lady who served us, (I don't eat meat so was wanting to add to my vegetarian order) we all very much enjoyed our meals, and returned on the last evening of our stay as well."

"The restaurant is tucked away and a bit hard to find due to all the construction barriers. But if you do venture down the alley way, you’ll come across a good sushi restaurant. <br/ <br/ The restaurant is pretty standard nothing exciting. But the food tasted really fresh. I was pretty content with my choices. A good variety of dishes coming around on the train too. <br/ <br/ Prices were not cheap, but that seems expected for sushi on the GC. <br/ <br/ Would I go back? Yes."

"This slightly hidden gem of a place is at the end of the arcade off the main street on Chevron and it is just a lovely place. The staff are always so friendly and welcoming, the dining area out the back is intimate and nice, and oh my god, the FOOD...IS...DELICIOUS!In my opinion, THE best Japanese food on the Gold Coast, and in fact in Melbourne too, my hometown - I've been to a lot of restaurants there and this is just the best."

"It was such a nice atmosphere here for dinner. All employees were extremely professional and did an amazing job. We ordered a soup starter and ravioli, enjoyed the selection of pasta with our sauce decide to share on spaghetti Bolansge and a large pizza. Each meal was greeted with the possibility of adding fresh parmesan cheese, salt or pepper. Very easy to share all meals with children instead of getting children meals .but the option is there. We have been treated like royal and definitely come back to explore more of their amazing authentic Italian meals. 100% recommend this restaurant for families, friends and couples. simply Devine."
