"I recently visited the Laughing Buddha on the weekend visiting family. The food was of a high standard and the young waitresses were very polite, friendly and attentive. Great service and enjoyed my meal. However, the decor is extremely outdated and tired, and the carpet...through the restaurant was very dirty. Not sure if I will return as although the service and food were great, the dirty carpet and wobbling tables/chairs were extremely off putting."

"I was today at the crown hotel in peebles for my lunch with my mom and it was beautiful. I had the ducks early to drink with a nasalate and curly fries and sweet chill sauce and a dietary bru. my mother the braut with chips and salat and a soda water and limette to drink. we both enjoyed our lunch. the place where we sat was nice and very nice from outside and the wee was also beautiful and they had a lot to choose from there menu. the staff was also very nice and the crown hotel was also beautiful inside. I stay in motherwell and it took 1 hour and 20 minutes to get there today. I had a walk through peebles while I was there and I'm back here, thanks for lunch."

"What an amazing place and bunch of people. I was on a bike tour to visit my son at university in St Andrews. The weather had been quite bad for a number of days on the way North. Now returning South, I found this hotel by pure chance while cold and wet and caught off guard with the night drawing in. Having called to chance my luck on a last-minute stay, I was greeted by Paul and his team who kindly arranged for the kitchen to stay open late so I could get some hot food inside me. The attention to detail of both the rooms and the staff was phenomenal, resulting in my asking if I could stay another day. Within a short period, they managed to fit me in, resulting in a much needed, welcomed, warm and friendly break. This isn't an area of the UK that I visit often. However, after such a wonderful stay, I am keen to return to the area with my better half, so she too may experience the wonderful service and friendly atmosphere of this Scottish Borders hidden gem. Thank you!"

"We enjoyed our one night stay here. Our room was quiet and comfortable but on the small side, as was the shower room. Breakfast was very good and freshly cooked to order. Evening meal was tasty (lamb tagine can be recommended) but food availability slots...were limited and may not suit everyone. Some rooms are having bathrooms revamped, so check availability directly with the pub rather than booking site on line for latest details. Parking available right outside. We would certainly go back to this hotel."

"My wife and I ate at Saddlers last night and we were blown away with the quality of the food and the service that we received. In other restaurants when I've asked for the pie I usually received a bowl of casserole with a pastry lid stuck on the top, but this wasn't the case at Saddlers, my pie was a PROPER home made pie, which was cram packed with chicken that just melted in my mouth. My wife had the Corn Fed Chicken Breast and she reckoned it was was the best main course that she has ever had in a restaurant for quite some time. I finished my meal off with their home made Sticky Toffee Pudding with Ice Cream and my wife had the baked Cheesecake. Well done to the management and staff for looking after us, we can't wait to back agin in the future."
