We visited for one night on a cycle tour. Thomas was very welcoming and there was a secure storeroom for our bikes. We had a delicious evening meal cooked by Thomas. There was an excellent menu choice at breakfast too and very generous portions. Rooms...were modestly priced and very clean. Would definitely recommend. View all feedback.
What Oona Suhonen doesn't like about Liddesdale:
great host and great food. stay for 2 days as part of the dirty reiver cycling event near kielder. thomas the host gave us a great reception in this great small hotel in the center of the city. ignore the menu at the front door, as thomas changes the menu every day to match their taste, which meant that we travel with pasta and rice in the night before the carb up ' and then a very good stacked burger and chips after... Freindly service, nice bar area however the decor needs more pictures on the walls , nachos started with a sprinkle of tastles cheese shop bought salsa dip , fish chips was a frozen breaded fish finger just **** in my opinion, chicken burger was nice tasty chips.
Needing a feed before heading to a nearby bothy for the night and with no other options in Newcastleton, I dined here. Yes: the hotel was in the right place and the meal filled me up but those are the only vaguely positive points about my visit. Cod fillet and chips £15 was basically breaded fish and oven chips with a small pot of peas. It's the sort of thing you'd do yourself from the freezer when you've nothing else in stock. The bar was soulless and unwelcoming. Very much a locals sort of place. Can't imagine they get many staying guests.
Lovely seafood paella really very good. Excellent friendly service. Well worth a visit for dinner.
A lovely place nice food , staff very friendly made welcome, large beer garden at the rear and a good selection of beers
Tried to book for dinner a very limited choice of food was offered and 6.30pm was too late! Nothing else is open so it’s can of tomato soup for dinner tonight. I would suggest the fella running the place should consider a different line of work, hospitality doesn’t suit him if he can’t be bothered to provide a meal for a family at 6.30pm I suspect this sort of poor customer attitude will ultimately close the place.
