"For a few years, we've been hanging out for a decent Chili mud crab and after a few hours around Chinatown we found this absolute jewel! Besides the best price in the city, the Chili Sauce Gravy was for dying! Great value in this lively little restaurant only other dish we had was a Singapore noodle dish that was on small size and less value. Asked to go as soon as we have the last mouthful, but this was expected how many others wait to get in ...byo is also a bonus. We had a nice guy who served us, but chief lady not overly friendly (but usually the norm). Will be back for another great food of fresh seafood that specializes in this place bunch of living seafood in the tanks before the selection. Revisited a few weeks later and were not disappointed! Same meal Singapore Chili Krabbe and a separate dish of noodles tasted everything better than our first visit! Words of caution make sure you see them weigh your fresh seafood they also round up around the next 100g then when you convert into pounds ....but in the case of mud crab current price was $29.95 per pound and is the best price to be found anywhere in CBD so still great!"

"When it feels like all your Christmases have come at once! ‘Va bene’ means ‘it goes well’ in Italian, and my visit to Va Bene Ristorante Italiano certainly went very well indeed I won a dining voucher thanks to a giveaway by @heybrisbane on Instagram, and booked in for a Friday night dinner, receiving some fine food and a few surprises along the way. Our order: arancini, $12.50 house made with porcini mushrooms and asiago cheese gnocchi al granchio, $27.50 fresh crab meat, tomato, chili, garlic, white wine and parsley risotto of the day, $33? with prawn and asparagus (that wifey requested be changed to zucchini) cannoli, $14.50 traditional Italian pastry filled with whipped ricotta and chocolate We paid a bit extra on top of our voucher limit for the above order, which would’ve been plenty of food for our family, but we were also gifted some unexpected off menu items on the house: cannelloni with pumpkin and ricotta panna cotta I enjoyed the opportunity to deviate a little from my typical Italian fare orders with the gnocchi and cannoli, but I have to say the cannelloni was my favourite dish of the night and the panna cotta capped off a delightful meal filled with warm hospitality and a very, very full and well satisfied stomach. Va Bene is tucked away inside the Ramada Brisbane Windsor, just off Lutwyche Rd. Featuring a mix of indoor and outdoor seating (in the picturesque courtyard), they also do takeaways and room service for Ramada guests. Both food and service are bellissimo! Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for authentic Italian cuisine and a va bene experience in the area."

"Have been here twice now and am still in awe and totally engrossed by the whole tea experience! Lovely service, delicious tea and this time we dined on soba noodle salad which was divine. Fresh and light; perfect for continuing on our road trip to Torquay. Great accidental find that we continue to return to."

"I tried the ham hock Benedict. It was refreshingly different to the usual eggs benny you get elsewhere. Instead of bread, there were two potato rostis, the sauce on the perfectly cooked poached eggs was spicy, and they sat on a mound of ham hock mixed in with some veges (finely shredded cabbage and carrot I think . When you combined all the elements in one mouthful it was very tasty and quite well balanced. However, I feel that the eggs and vege/ham stack could have been more flavourful, perhaps some additional seasoning or a sauce through the veges. Coffee was ok without being outstanding (I had a skinny cap in a mug so issue may have been the lf milk or size?? . Service was friendly and attentive. No salt and pepper was provided, unsure if that was an oversight or they are one of those places that doesn’t offer it as the food is to be tasted as chef prepares it. I’d definitely go back here as it was overall a tasty creative meal and there’s definitely other meals I wan to try. Parking: Free 1hr parking on Chapel St if you can get a spot or paid parking across the road from Windsor Station.
