"Always doubtful about pub chains, but this was fabulous. My wife and sister in the law had Sampi, muddy peas and skin on chips that tasted fantastic. I ordered a mixed grill worried that the meat undercooked / overcooked, but WOW, everything was perfect, delicate, tasteful and spot on. After almost 50 years of food, this was the best ever mixed grill I ever had. The drinks were also on site. Thanks to Hayley and the staff. Can't wait to get back to Paignton and visit The Inn on the Quay."

"Lovely setting on the harbour upstairs dining area has views over the harbour one side and beach the other. Not a huge range of choice, but what they did offer was done well and a little different eg falafel wrap was made with beetroot falafel, tasty roasted pepper soup, and the desserts were outstanding. The vanilla pod Cheesecake was incredibly creamy, while the poached pineapple was really unusual. Updated from previous review on 2021 10 02"

"We were pleased to see a few vegan options on the menu but were massively disappointed in the quality. We ordered a sharing plate of nachos with chilli but the portion was really small for two people and much smaller then other nachos plates going to other tables for one person. Not put off at the first dish, we then ordered vegan pizzas but it was very light on vegetables on top and the mushroom(I think there was only one) had been shredded to make it go further. Both dishes were pretty tasteless and lacked flavour. We won’t be back."

"I have often seen people float outside on deprivation fish and chips, but never had eaten. the decor is charming, tastefully late Victorian with framed Sepia photos of fishing in this time; the service was friendly and welcoming; the eating excellent crispy teig over pure white fish and the sauces on the table were brand new and unopened. babbacombe has two candidates for the best fish and chip shop in devon and since its main rival has been closed at peak-scoffing times, the advantage goes to drake’s."
