"Party of four visited Blue Fish for the first time for dinner upon the recommendation of Yucatan Living website. It is located off of a side street just after the roundabout near the Gran Plaza. We used a taxi because directions provided to us sounded confusing but next time easy enough to drive. Parking is on the street in front of the restaurant. The decor is simple and contemporary relying on blue and white which naturally goes with the sea theme. It seemed somewhat stark and walls could of used more decor to muffle a bit of sound and lessen the echo. I guess it didn 't help that we were one of three tables. The restaurant has plenty of tables and I cannot imagine a time that a reservation would be essential. The menu is in spanish only. Where our translation failed, the waiter was very helpful and assisted in explaining the choices. I don 't know if it was because we showed up after 6 (surprisingly restaurant closes at 8 p,m. possibly because it is out of the Centro. but a couple of choices were no longer available. In the end, this would be our only drawback because food and service were excellent. Our table ordered squid, seafood ceviche, shrimp salad, tuna tartare, salmon, and shrimp brochette. All dishes were beautifully presented and fresh tasting. The presentation was amazing and you really had to take a moment to appreciate the plate. The shrimp and seafood in all the dishes (i.e. ceviche and shrimp salad were tender and sweet. They were not tough which is often the case when it sits in the citrus brine to cure. The tuna tartare was superb! We would highly recommend this dish as a result of its quality, seasoning and fresh taste. The salmon, slightly overcooded, still tasted very good. We had two bottles of white wine sorry don 't recall the names. For dessert, a chocolate cake which was moist and pleasantly sweet without being overpowering. I would have taken a picture, but with four spoons at the table it quickly disappeared. So in the end, a meal for four people, two bottles of wine, one dessert cost us approximately $120 Cdn. Excellent value for money! All of us would definitely visit this place again and would confidently recommend this to any fish/seafood lovers wanting an impeccable meal at a great price!"

"I am a local Meridian, yet I write this English because I want both tourists and locals to be aware of what has been happening socially in Merida in the past five years and how gentrification is taking a toll on the neighborhood lives of...Mexicans in downtown. El apapacho food is great, it’s a constant, dishes are super well prepared, really nice portions and authentic cuisine from Oaxaca. Yet, I went this weekend, I haven’t been there for a while and I ordered the same thing I usually go for, it was all delicious, but I was surprised when the bill came up, because the menu prices have changed quite dramatically in the past months. I got an entry, a beer and a main dish, usually I used to pay for that the equivalent of 15 usd; that for Mexican minimum wage standards its not cheap, but it’s ok, and the food is worth it if you doing so once or twice a month. This time I paid around 30 usd, almost double for the exact same things. A 160 pesos for Guacamole, and 270 pesos for 6 shrimps (or so) in aguachile it’s insane, it’s only prices for international tourists now. I think both Mexican locals and foreigners who come by need to be aware of that. This add insult to injury when part of the discourse in the restaurant, specially in the book selection of the library shop is based mainly on radical politics, feminism anti colonialism and anti imperialism. It feels like a joke now to be simply thinking business wise and pretty much milk Americans (who will still find this prices cheap) and make it now imposible for medium class and working class mexicans to enjoy. Take for example the delicious “Little India” restaurant“ in Santa Lucia. The chef is Indian, and entree is 30 pesos, a main dish is a 140 pesos and a flan custard of ginger is 30 pesos, you get a phenomenal meal for 200 pesos (10 USD) a Guava flan custard at el apapacho is a 169 pesos, you make the math…."

"A small places with great interesting quiches and cakes plus a couple of other items. The owner studied in France and the quiches are definitely “very French” : The crust is just right. Some quiches are more traditional (spinach, ratatouille), others have acquired Mexican flavor...(chile poblano y elote). The owner has a Catalonian connection which shows in some menu items. The only beverage on the menu is coffee but you can buy something from the little store next door. It may be a little weird but it means you only pay pesos for a bottle of water. I had a long and interesting conversation with the owner an educated woman who moved here from Monterey a few years ago. A nice and unique place with delicious menu."

"We made reservations for our group of ten. Table was ready when we arrived. We were given one menu for the table, had to ask for more , I think we ended up With 3 menus total for 10 people. Took forever to take our...drink order. Had to call him over to order food. He missed two people’s order and we had to find him to make sure he got everyone’s order, Once we ordered our food, I will say it arrived quickly. Everyone’s food was delicious, I would say the pastas are the winners here (and I make my own fresh pasta) . My mushroom pizza was delicious although a bit expensive. When we were done once again had to find him to ask for our bill. I didn’t like that 15% tip got automatically charged and we received bad service. Go for the food and pray for a better waiter than we had."

"UPDATE: Saturday, August 26th Loved our dinner but service was subpar. Ordered appetizers: betabel and provolone. For main course: brisket to share. All out of this world. So excited about the food forgot to take photos with the exception of the brisket. Make sure you don’t sit it Ariel’s section. Frustrating having to ask numerous times for: cocktail menu, paper napkins (I finally had to get up and get them myself), and mezcal for my cocktail which never came. Had to ask three times for a shot of mezcal. First choice was available then not available. Second choice was available then not available. After finishing half of my cocktail, Ariel come back to tell that my first choice was available. We were celebrating the end of summer. Food was on point as always. Ariel not so much. His companion Carlos did most of the work and was exceptional. Will return but will ask for another section so we don’t repeat this experience."

"Average breakfast. The owner charged us extra 30 Pesos for 2 tiny pieces of butter when we asked for toast bread. Pineapple juice was watered down terrible taste. We were told they normally give Margarine if it's Butter they change 30 Pesos 16% IVA! Terrble and slow service. Gready owners .. This place for hippies and cheap cusmers. The band was too loud.. some of the members of the band were dressed cheaply to show their cleavages and had very little clothes on them. Not good for kids.. specially on Sunday morning when you want to enjoy a relaxing day. All you see is desperate women showing off their private parts to get attention. The Drummer had some body paint crystals stuck to her body was a desperate cry for attention Do not recommend."
