"Came here for cheesecake and a couple drinks. Cake was good, very wet creamy texture which was interesting. Coffee was nice, but a 3.50 for a can of pop is a little steep imo."

"It's a deli, not a restaurant but we've been getting our Thanksgiving turkey and all the trimmings dinner for a large family group (up to 30) from Max's for years and they haven't disappointed. Plenty of food, well prepared and every year there seems to be a standout item for me. This year it was the candied yams. We supplement with a few family favorites but there really is no need to. Max's makes it possible for us to celebrate en masse without some people being stuck in a hot kitchen cooking all day. When we lived in Vancouver, Max's was our favorite and much frequented place for all kinds of tasty and healthy prepared food. I recommend them."

"Wonderful restored Victorian house, with delicious freshly baked breakfast items. We ate there 2 days in a row for breakfast and both times the food was great. Had fresh steel-cut oatmeal (asked me if i wanted it made with milk or water) and a chocolate croissant the first morning, and a breakfast parfait, and a regular croissant the second. My friend had a custom made hot coffee and milk drink and a delicious Danish. Woman owned business. No screens allowed in the main downstairs room. Also had a small patio. Lovely!"

"Good bakery. We got the cinnamon raisin croissant and the butter croissant--both very well baked, which is the most important part. I'm only giving it 4 stars, though, because the interior seating/ambience isn't perfect. It's a bit loud and industrial, so eating in the bakery isn't the most pleasant experience. Great baking though!"
