"I used to drink with colleagues from work occasionally....late 90s..I was walking past and popped in on impulse....I have just returned after a few years walkabout in Africa. I felt like Rip Van Winkel. It was a proper boozer then. They are serving very well presented food and all the patrons seemed happy. Still a wonderful atmosphere and friendly staff."

"My wife and I regularly visit Spoons in Peterborough, Kings Lynn, Dereham and Wisbech. This was by far the worst meal we have had. Arrived at 3.50 on Tuesday 7th Dec. Ordered at bar 2 Steak and Kidney puddings with mash peas and gravy. Food arrived within 20 mins. The peas were rock hard. The mash had a skin on it and was dried up at one end. The puddings had been microwaved for far too long and the bottom pastry was very tough and unedible. The kidney...my wife had none in hers, mine had 3 pieces 1 of which was the bit you cut out and throw away. 2 pieces of my meat was sinew and had to leave. The gravy did not look fresh and was lumpy. I would not have been surprised if the whole meal had been placed on the plate cold then microwaved. We had the same meal in Peterborough 2 weeks ago and it was excellent. No staff member came around to ask if our meal was ok. The male and female toilets upstairs were both cold, Spoons can do a lot better than this but we will not eat at this particulary pub again. Very dissapointing."

"We booked up a table at Fontanela’s with high expectations as the reviews in general were pretty favourable but we ended up disappointed not to mention having an upset stomach. The service was good as the staff were very friendly and happy to please but both our meals were very salty and underwhelming to the point that we both had upset stomach as a result. I had the soup as my starter and was told it was Minestrone but in fact was nothing more than tomato bolognaise My wife had the garlic mushroom which was very oily and she though at one point the mushrooms were doing a back stroke, too much oil. A real shame for us based on what the reviews said so unfortunately we can’t recommend based on our experience."

"Discussing food microwaved and tasteless.I fancied a pint and a bite to eat so of we go to the Griffen.We have not been for ages and won’t be going back I choose pie,mashed patotos and peas it was terrible,the wife had scampi and that was a little better but not much,On a good note the ale was fine"

"I was looking for a morning coffee and maybe a cake, and this looked like an ideal place to pause. I was not disappointed. Primarily a Baker's Shop, it also doubles up as a modest cafe. One can chose what to eat from the cakes, pastries and pies on sale and display, and freshly prepared filled rolls and baguettes are made up to order. The Coffee was just fine and the cake I selected was excellent. A team of admirable ladies are working in there, friendly, and happy to chat. I was amazed at the cost of food and drink. In my South coast home. a single specialist coffee would have cost almost as much as I paid for two cakes and coffees. A little gem"
