"Lunchtime on a Friday, mostly empty. I asked for a ham and cheese sandwich, got kraft cheese slice on a slice of processed ham, on toast. A companion said the clam chowder was thin. The fries were good. Waitress friendly but obviously apologetic. This place used to be much better, the fish and chips used to be outstanding, at least for Ottawa, but mediocre now, too bad."

"We visited Soup Guy Cafe in the Glebe for the first time for lunch today. The guy behind the counter greeted us and was extremely friendly and helpful. We were offered samples of a couple of the soups when we arrived. Nice touch!Today they featured I believe 8 soups ranging from the one I had, a delicious New England clam chowder, to a more spicy one that my wife had. I also had the corn bread and a bacon/cheese grilled sandwich. Everything was delicious and hit the spot on this snowy, Ottawa day. Probably due to the weather, the place was not busy today. The guy behind the counter came to speak to us during and after our meal. They try to not use salt in their recipes. A very healthy idea.They have another location in the World Exchange Plaza downtown which has been opened since 1991. After more than 25 years, they seem to really know how to make good soups. We will no doubt return soon."

"The salmon with gochujang glaze, sweet potato, herb salad and veggies was a feast for the eyes as well as for the palette! It was perhaps the most delicious serving of salmon I've ever eaten. My husband really enjoyed the scallops pork belly too....The service was very good, but the initial (un)welcome by the hostess almost had us leave to find another place to dine. Arriving on a Thursday at 5pm without a reservation seemed to be an issue; so I recommend reserving ahead of time."

"Super cool and super friendly. fast and without reservations in the cozy terrace in the back. the drinks arrived shortly after and our food order was not far behind. delicious oysters with a large number of sauces, she said scotch bonnet?! the burger was delicious and so were the truffle friars. I say the lobster was pretty good."

"Tucked away in a quiet neighbourhood near the bus station, Whalesbone Oyster Fish Supply is first, a sustainably caught fish shop, but second, an amazing purveyor of brown bag lunches creamy chowder, and fish sandwiches that change according to what is fresh (or freshly smoked) large portions of fish battered or smoked and my favorite oysters served po'boy style! Served on fresh buns, spicy sauces and mayo, topped with lettuce an amazing find. Only a few stools available, but on a sunny day you can sit out at the picnic tables. Don't forget to pick up some fish while you're there!"
