"A nice cellar in downtown. Here you can eat delicious Latin American food (at weekends with South American live music). The service is flotted and friendly. The cocktails delicious. "General My wife and I have purchased (of course the 49 Euro ticket. Finally, we don't have our own car (more. But we use the German ticket for our shopping trips to the city. This is worth it when you drive about twice a week bus (City Level 1a 2,70 € Cologne Level 2b 4,30 € per ride easy. Now the weather this day was not so hot and we decided to make a little longer tour with the local transport: It should go to Duisburg. Let's see what has changed in Meiderich. The bus arrived on time, even the S 11 was not disturbed. In Cologne Mülheim we should change. So we went to the right platform. But what was on the scoreboard: This train stops – the next one in over an hour. But does he come? So to the next platform: train to the main railway station. He had only 15 minutes late and was full. In Cologne then a look at the road map: Here too, the next train would have lasted in the direction over an hour (ICE of course we didn't want to, which costs a lot. What is it, then we stay in Cologne. The next train to Hansaring and then with the U 12 to Friesenplatz. The KVB railway even came and we were already at the destination after three stations: Duisburg Brauhaus Päffgen. Ambience It was just 2 minutes before 12 o'clock and the baskets pulled up the shutters from the entrance. We were waiting politely for a few minutes (so the locals looked at us in the neighborhood and on the Friesenstraße the gastronomy rows like on a pearl chain and then entered the house without haste. The friendly waiter stood with a colleague at Thekenschaaf and greeted. Then he asked us if we wanted a carol. We nodded and he said, I'll get a barrel. In the meantime we had looked into the small card and ordered two dishes. The tasted food tuna salad (13.50 € 3⁄4 meter sausage (11.50 € Pommes frites (4.00 € When the salad was finished, the basket brought the plate. He said: The sausage lasts longer, but the salad is not cold. Then they can eat together. It also took a bit then the warm dishes came. On the salad plate were, apart from the tuna pieces (dosenware still green olives without stone and other filling, fresh tomato slices, feta cheese cubes, fresh salad leaves, aromatic herb salad (self-made or a good company, onion rings and a huge parsley leaf. My wife was quite satisfied with the plate – there was a big baguette on a small plate. The thin bratwurst (homemade had been well roasted and lay in a cast iron pan. In the middle stood a pot with mustard (also a paste recipe . A bow was cut through and slightly fried on the soft insides. I liked it very well, it was deicy and fits the carol. The fries were not too thin and crispy. There was a package of Majonäse and Ketchup (I didn't open. Drinks Päffgen Kölsch (0.2 l 2.10 € Päffgen broke in the Friesenviertel since 1883. The brewery is therefore one of the last ones to brew in the city center unchanged (Kölsch must be from Cologne, but Cologne is big: Gaffel in Porz, Früh in Feldkassel, Reissdorf in Rodenkirchen . In the brewhouse it also flows from barrels into the glass and does not come through long lines with carbon dioxide driven to drain. It was well cooled and refreshed: malty, slightly sweet, pleasantly tapped and kernel. Price performance ratio Neither food nor carol are bargains. But the place is harmonious and the offers taste. Conclusion 4 – happy again – this was a nice trip to Meiderich and Cologne. The return journey even worked great: U Bahn, S Bahn and scheduled bus arrived on time and even fitted without long waiting times. Once again we drive back to Duisburg (or directly to a brewhouse in Cologne city center: You know what you have! .
