"I grew up near the beach with so many large fish chip shops. in melbourne they usually live on average. fortunately, sam and his crew have taken over this joint with me as my native! every time I get fish chips. they are cooked to perfection! amazing, delicious fish. the sweet potato friars are heavenly! I recommend coming here!"

"We went there with various generations of our family, and quite frankly, we were not too keen to go. However, we found that the whole set up was very pleasing, and the food excellent. Who would ever have thought that I would enjoy BLACK spaghetti.. It was delicious. A great place for a casual Italian meal. The only reason I will not return is that for some reason a lot of 'yuppie' restaurants seem to think that all of their customers are 'trendy' and want to drink 'craft' beer at a rediculously expensive price.... WRONG... A lot of Aussies want to drink a beer that they are familiar with, be it local or imported beer, and at a realistic price ! And they also enjoy a full strength beer too !"

"Started out with the falafel.  Three egg shaped falafel on a bed of spiced labneh.  Generally I 'm not a fan as I find falafel a bit dry.  In this case they were crispy on the outside but moist enough within not to *need* the labneh.  Some of the best I 've had (but I don 't eat them very often so it 's a low bar).<br/ The chicken, lamb and potatoes followed.  <br/ <br/ The chicken was sliced reasonably thinly, cooked evenly and nicely spiced.  The rice pilaf was scattered with red and black currants.  Nice dish.<br/ Potatoes were very nice.  Lightly crushed and deep fried to a nice crispiness.<br/ The serving of lamb was a little small and I found the tomato mograbieh (pasta balls) a little dull (it was quite similar to what you 'd get in a tin of baked beans) and the whole mint leaves wasted.  In fact, the combination of the sauce and the lamb didn 't really work that well.  However, the lamb was very nice.  In some ways, this dish was saved by the labneh that came with the potatoes and the pilaf that was served with the chicken.<br/ Dessert was a 'moroccan mess ' and a sticky date pudding (off menu special).<br/ The mess was truly messy a pile of meringue, berry compote and cream with rose water flavoured floss on top.  Perhaps a little wetter than necessary and very sweet.<br/ The pudding was pretty good. Good moisture, appropriate sauce serving.  Could have been a little hotter upon arrival at the table.<br/ <br/ We did book (not long before arriving), but the booking wasn 't on their system.  Fortunately there were plenty of tables, so no problem, but considering that my partner had to spell their name over the phone I found it strange that the booking wasn 't listed.<br/ Service was friendly and attentive.<br/ <br/ Overall... serving sizes are a little on the pokey side for the price, but the flavours were good.  Gluten free options are a little on the thin side when it comes to the mains though.<br/ <br/ Probably a 3.5 in the old scale."

"I first came here because the recommendation from a friend and decided to come back as the food was really amazing. Also, the service was really good, the waitress was more than friendly and helpful.<br/>One more point is that the oysters were super fresh and yummy with very reasonable price. Will bring more people to come back here again"

"I tried Fat Boy Thai Kitchen because I found it in the Entertainment Book (which makes me try new places I might not otherwise go to). It 's quite small inside, so I 'd definitely make a booking as there were a couple of bigger parties seated. There is an upstairs section, but I don 't know how big it is up there. One thing I loved was that you couldn 't see into the kitchen. I don 't love that about restaurants, and was happy not to be able to look in.<br/ <br/ The menu doesn 't stand out from other Thai restaurants. I got my usual Chicken Curry Puffs and my Chicken Fried Rice. The curry puffs were nice, but not outstanding. The fried rice was good, but also nothing more amazing than elsewhere. <br/ <br/ When the entrees came out, the waitress didn 't ask who ordered what. She just put things down in front of all of the wrong people. It came out in a good time frame, but that was a little 'unprofessional ' if I 'm going to be picky. The staff were friendly though, and very accommodating when it came to menu modifications. They got it all right and that 's a big plus with me.<br/ <br/ The only other slight negative was that because the restaurant is quite small, when people wait for their take out orders, they almost stand on top of your table waiting. It 's kind of awkward for both them and the diners, but at least some didn 't have to wait too long.<br/ <br/ Overall, I 'd recommend Fat Boy Kitchen if you 're in the area. It 's a good half hour drive for me, so I wouldn 't visit again necessarily unless I was in the area (and parking can be really bad), but it 's well priced, reasonable and friendly service, and tasty."
