"Every year when we visit Monterey, THIS is the ALL-VEGAN place we ALWAYS look forward to eating at. As a vegan family, this place is no joke! El Cantaro is the best!!! Clean, beautiful, facilities. Friendly and accommodating staff. Delicious vegan food served consistently. The steak fajitas were smoky and flavorful. I recommend getting a couple extra tortillas with a side of guacamole to share."

"I worked in food service from the time I was 16 to mid college, so I get that we all have bad days on the job. However, the last experience I had at Sugar Taco left a very bad taste in my mouth. I 've dined at Sugar Taco on multiple occasions in the past and wanted to take some girlfriends here to try the delicious vegan burritos. When we walked in, there was a long line at the cashier and another employee was telling people to please sit down and order using the QR codes. No problem, we found a table in the back and did just that. Our food was eventually delivered, and everything was correct except the carne asada nachos we ordered for the table. Right off the bat, I noticed the portion seemed smaller than it has been in the past, but I didn 't think much of it. We all had a couple of bites before I realized we received regular nachos, with no protein on it. I picked up the plate and went up to the front, which was now empty (we made sure to ask when things had calmed down, to not overwhelm the staff. When I showed the employee a copy of my order and the nachos we received, there was immediate attitude in her tone: the first words out of her mouth was well... the nachos are half eaten, so I don 't really know what you want me to do about it... I can 't make you a new one at this point. I simply asked for a side of carne asada so we could at least have the protein we paid for she eventually got us a side, but I think the attitude already dampened the mood for us. I was so taken aback by the immediate accusatory tone that I didn 't have time to think about my response. I wish I had pulled out my recent photos to show her the picture I had just taken of the food as it got to the table we didn 't eat up all the carne asada on the nachos to try to scam the restaurant of another free serving!!!! I 'm assuming that 's what she was implying... Anyway, the food is usually pretty good but a lasting part of how I remember a restaurant experience is the customer service that goes along with it. It was a bummer because I 'd like to think my friends and I were very respectful the entire time we were at the restaurant if we meet you with sensitivity and kindness, I expect the same reaction back. Judging from some of the other 2 star reviews, it seems this attitude isn 't a one time occurrence, which is disheartening. Train your front of house better, please!"

"Mortality with average prices. Between my last review and today I hesitated to deliver another review to a La Mordida. Mainly because I didn't want to blow up a business that seemed consistently under par for a Taqueria during the Kovid. But with today's bad quality meal, I thought it was time. I got a baby burrito. I removed a block and opened it. The chips and salsa are substandard. Chips lubricated stalls. Salsa was right. No red or green. The baby Burrito was not done as I asked. And the meat quality was only bad overall. The only good thing from the whole meal was the rice in the baby Burrito. Felt strong enough today that everything else beside the rice was only thrown into the can. La Mordida has so badly over so long the only recommendation I can give about her is to go only if there is absolutely no other place to go for Mexican food. Or if you're drunk, you have your beer glasses over your tongue and want to eat something else. Otherwise, you avoid La Mordida, except perhaps for an order of rice and nothing else."

"Middle of the road experience. The burrito was ok. I ordered the al pastor in the recommendation of the friendly staff member. It wasn't hot when it arrived. The guacamole and pico cooled the burrito down to the point of being just above room temperature. The meat was warm. Thankfully. It had a different kind of marinade than what I'm used to when I order Al pastor. Almost like a dried ancho chilli marinade. Not bad, just not what I'm used to. The tortilla was cold. The chips were stale and over salted. There wasn't anything about the experience that would make me want to come back here. Best of luck."

"I usually order vegan bahn mi bowl but today I swapped out the tofu for grilled chicken (add $1) I love their marinated tofu but just wanted chicken today. The food comes really fast, and the staffs are very lovely. She offered me a box of free chips and salsa while I wait and she was very flexible when I wanted to modify a couple of things in the bowl. I got half rice and half kale which is the perfec t amount of food for me, it was super filling and their rice is so tasty! The bowl comes with some beans, fried shallots, refreshing pickles and Pico de gallo and roasted corn! Oh and I cant forget the crispy kale! it's such a balance and delicious take on burrito bowl, yes I know it's not authentic burrito bowl but it is so delicious so who cares!? As long as it tastes good and taco tu madre is hands down makes my favourite burrito bowl in town! There are some seatings on the side, pretty chill. You can definitely find plenty of street parking in the area. It's a wholesome, convenient lunch spot!"
