"I’m addicted to craft brewed India Pale Ales, better known as IPAs. So when I arrive in a new city, I want to know where I might find craft beer. And if it is brewed on the premises, all the better. Brutopia is just such a place. The upstairs brew pub features about eight craft brews, including an IPA with a modest IBU by west coast standards (58), but quite drinkable, and only $5.50 for a sleeve before 8 pm (it’s a dollar more after 8 pm). They offer a menu of tapas and sandwiches – I opted for a Cubano sandwich, in this case roast pork with mayonnaise, lettuce, and guacamole in a bun. Perfect. There is a lower level at sidewalk level, the Brutopia Bistro, that I’m guessing has an expanded menu but I didn’t have time to look closer."

"Very disappointed the café was empty when we were there, perhaps 5 6 other guests. The menu is standard, what is available via the SAQ, no private import. As someone who travels frequently the selection was bland and limited no SMWS or anything unique to try. One of our selections we requested Loch Lomond 12, having not tried that before. Waitress serves Lagavulin 12. When we advise her this is not what was asked that it was Loch Lomond 12, she shrugs and does not offer to correct or replace and charges the full price of the Lagavulin anyhow despite her mistake! Never have I been to a restaurant or bar where the server makes an error and does not offer to correct it when they are advised. Can only say we will not be returning and suggest that others stay away Pub de l’ile Noir or Ardbeg Lounge at Chez Alexandre are better options if you want a good dram in Montreal."

"C'est petit, c'est plein d'atmosphère, les gens sont cordiaux. Un café Cubano!! vrais à Montréal. Le Mohitos sont excellents et c'est en formule tapas, on aime certaines choses plus que d'autres, mais on est déçu par rien. On y retourne c'est sûr!!"

"Olive et Gourmando is the best food in the world. Not the best pastries in the world. The best food in the world. We are flying back to the States today, and I have accepted the fact that for the next few months, I will surely wake up in a cold sweat nightly. At first I won’t know what’s wrong the looming threat of world war? The untimely death of Chris Cornell? Bees? Then it will occur to me that I have no access to these pastries and I will weep while rocking in the fetal position for hours, rendering myself so exhausted and useless that I will lose both my job and my children. Thanks, Olive et Gourmando, for ruining my life."

"I am often next door at the antique shop so it suits me to drop in there for lunch. A burger, fries and a large glass of plonk is about $20. The coffee is a good and cheaper alternative. I reviewed this place some time ago and nixed it on two grounds. The absence of any food whatever 45 mins after ordering on one occasion and the inability to provide hot fries just soggy and flaccid ones on both occasions.Strangley I went in there again and was cheerfully and promptly served with hot food good coffee and left feeling good.The menu might be described as funky, the decor as naff, quasi antiques for the uninitiated. There is a large sofa facing you as you enter ,it looks uncomfortable and it is. My most recent visit was less than successful, On Saturday afternoon I tried to get some food . There was evidently a crise de cuisine going on. No food for at least 15 minutes, I was told. What can be going on in there? We are not talking gastronomy in this place. They seem to have some odd system .On the one hand the absence of food is a critical shortcoming yet my experience has not been entirely poor either. I went up the street to Patrice and got a takeout grilled cheese sandwich but that is another story"
