"We were very fortunate to be able to sit outside when having lunch at The Shieling as it was a beautiful day. The view over the loch to Skye is magnificent. The menu is extensive with casual items such as filled jacket potatoes and sandwiches...and also has a good range of more substantial main courses. My jacket potato was good and service friendly and welcoming. Just wish this restaurant was open for dinner."

"Food was nice but nothing special and certainly not worth the price tag. This was our first meal out from our camping trip and we were left feeling very disappointed and out of pocket. Six of us ate, 4 adults and 2 kids, we shared starters and puddings and it still cost us over £200! Service was terrible and the atmosphere was non existent! Food portions were mediocre and certainly not worthy of the cost! Local taxi driver was great but said he hasn’t been in there in years as it’s no longer local and just aimed at the tourist market. Such a shame for the locals. If you want proper Scotland this isn’t it!"

"The hotel restaurant serves a pulled pork burger that staff conformed as Linda McCartney brand and also offers vegan Quorn nuggets. This is a great vegan find in Skye. Items are marked as vegan on the menu. I ordered the burger, which came with relish on the side, chips, and a nice salad not the sad limp kind you sometimes get. It was a decent portion and the burger was tasty. The non-vegan burger comes with coleslaw, which has been left off of the vegan burger so staff clearly know what vegan means. There are also vegetarian and gluten free options if that's your thing."

"Visited twice on our stay in Gairloch for sit in coffee and breakfast…what a delightfully pleasant little haven of a café. Beautifully clean facilities throughout, top notch food, and staff that were just so cheery, accommodating and efficient. Nothing seemed to be a bother listening...to their conversation with any of the guests. You really can’t go wrong if you rock up to this little joint for good food and service!! Well done!…and a definite that we’ll pay another visit to when next in the area."
