"Friendly people, quietness and best Greek food in my opinion in town. Pontos offers a big variety of dishes. Desert galaktombureko is fantastic."

"Have been in the Coburg area over a year now, and this is our favorite spot so far. Given we are in Covid times we still venture out for some food and coffee to support this business. The food is always great and they continue to offer take away options for cute dates such as this. Staff always friendly and helpful. Recommend highly!"

City: Coburg, Spitalgasse 29, 96450, Coburg, Bavaria, Germany
"Coburg – city of ice cream parlors. When my birthplace was known for the highest shoe store density per inhabitant, Coburg is trying to get the status of the most ice-creamed city south of the Weißwurstäquator. At a distance of not even eight minutes' walk, there are all eight ice cream parlors that are bugging around clientele. After a completely selfless Schlotztest in all the etablissements, the absolute favourite – the Cortina, also likes to be called “Cort” for locals. The Cort is located on the border between the Coburg shopping street Spitalgasse and the a little bit of adolescent stone path, known for small shops and the local celebration mile. Be it an archetype plan for ice cream parlours, the cort would fulfill most clichés... A long and narrow shop – yes. A series of mandatory square tables – yes. A very narrow ice counter in the front part of the shop – still one yes. Creepy thin paper napkins with the suction force of a floor tile – even here a smooth yes. Now you visit ice cream parlors less because of architectural achievements, but rather because of the ice. And here the Cort plays out all her trumps. The ice is just great! Self-made, creamy, sparkling, a large but not excessive selection, and above all the ice does not rush into its metal containers, strengthened by artificial stabilizers, emulsifiers and other -ores, until felt 30 cm above the freezer limit. Knatschbuntes ice cream is also in vain, instead the ice comes in natural colors and not E131 blue. The varieties are arranged between classic dairy and fruit ice cream varieties, up to Mozarteis, Yoghurette, dark chocolate and walnut meat ice cream. My personal favorite for “on the hand” are Malaga (with extremely many beautifully crisp rumrosins in it, which are not freeze-drying mumonia and milk rice (which actually tastes like fresh milk rice and also contains milk rice grains! The nice owners will sprinkle a little cinnamon on it on request. The bullet costs 1.20 euros. If one decides for a “seat ice” and takes place at one of the tables, one expects a large selection of different ice cups. In addition to the standard cups, which are known from almost every ice cream parlour, there are also tasty variations, such as the Copa Raffaello, which I offer, consisting of cream ice cream, Stracciatella, cream, many coconut rasps, a sphere Raffaello and Batida de Coco. Also highly recommended is the Mozart cup with Mozarteis, cream ice cream, cream, pistachio sauce and Mozart ball above. Most ice cups in the range cost 5,20 euros. As a Tübinger, you rub your eyes at the latest. The Cort is so popular not only because of the great ice, but also because of its charming owners. The two rugged older ladies who run the shop are always standing here personally and have probably grown up half of Coburg and even get younger. Here every wish is read from the eyes. Don't you like what's on the map? No problem, the bosses mix a wish ice cream cup as desired. A chocolate cup without chocolates, for me yogurt, walnut figs and strawberry sauce? Everything goes on request. Durable people receive any form of coffee specialties produced by an Italian screen carrier machine. For indecisions between ice cream and coffee, there are also ice cream coffee or (secret tip! a wonderful Affogato al Caffè – a ball of ice cream in a double espresso, especially fine with delicate chocolate ice cream. If you like it more alcoholic, you will also get the usual fifty shades of Aperol spray and art-related stem glass drinks with ice cubes. To do this, the bosses always submit a bowl of chips or peanuts to the house. In addition to the seats inside, there are also four high tables outside the door, two of which are equipped with bar stools. The interior of the guest hose is barrier-free, but the toilet can only be reached by steps. The high tables outside are also so semi for accessibility, but here you can pick up with a quickly created low table and, if desired, also with suitable seating. Reading the map is also not necessary for visual weakness, the bosses know their map better than their western pocket and like to tell what there is. I'm only half a year in Coburg, but the Cort belongs to it regularly. Whether for a quick espresso, a half-fast affogato al Caffè or for hand or seat ice, I'm just happy here. Could I give six stars, I would. That's how I have to leave it with five ice stars. Stay as you are, dear Cort!"

"I don't know what it means that I am so happy; a hostage from old times, it doesn't come from my mind. (Free after Heinrich Heine had Heinrich Heine, did he start his Loreley poem when he had eaten in the “Loreley”? I think so. And happy if the food had been” he would surely have been. In the following more! At the beginning of our Coburg stay, the receptionist at the hotel recommended not only the “Maccaroni” (see my criticism, but also the “Loreley”. An excellent indication of how to stand out. The “Loreley” is located in Coburger Herrgasse, corner of Rückertstraße. The house makes a powerful impression with its two floors above the ground floor, for which also the long window rows on the first and second floor contribute. The Lüftlmalerei on the entrance front with the hand-painted “Loreley” logo between the first and second floors, which is more than two windows wide, recalls long past times. In front of the entrance of the inn, a large part of the walkway and the headstone pavement road is separated as a “beer garden”. Efeuberankte lattices in Kübeln border to the street and bring “greens” to outdoor gastronomy. Tables and chairs are in beer garden style, the overall impression is well maintained. The impression that the guest rooms make is based on a verdict from the corridor to the toilet. A dark brown facing of the walls, red padded chair and bench, beige, rustic table tops and the otherwise dark brown seating and furniture fall into the eye – a well-kept and noble overall impression at first glance. It's a very warm summer evening, which is why we settle outside. We hardly have space, so the service brings us seat cushions for the beer garden chairs. Two late ladies take care of us, not intrusive, but always attentive, friendly and fast. And the question of women who were asked at a suitable opportunity whether everything is correct, especially in food, will also be convinced and satisfied. The menus that one of my ladies and I am enough of my wife offer something for every taste. In the main card, meat and fish lovers have a suitable choice, vegetarians can come to just one main dish. Six fish dishes from 12,50 € to 19,50 € with a range of salmon, sea salmon and zander in different variations and six meat dishes from the pan or grill with a series of carvings, turkey steak, ragsteak and various barbecues have a number of lush compared to the vegetarian pappardelle in tomato sauce and with parmesan and salad (9,50 €). You can choose from four from 5,50 € to 15,90 €. The “cold kitchen” is represented with four dishes from € 6.50 to € 9.50. Three appetizers (4,50 € to 9,50 € and four desserts (each 5,50 € round off the offer. In a seasonal map, “additional specialties” are offered, including two meat-free and fish-free Pfifferlingsgerichte for € 13.50 and € 14.50 and Pfifferlingssüppchen und -salate as an offer extension for vegetarians. The mushroom lover can also choose from two meat dishes and a fish dish with whistles (15,50 € to 20,50 €). While we studied the maps, half a liter of Bavarian Helles (3,30 €), a water (2,50 € and a Silvan house tap, not a nameless, but a “Obereisenheimer Höll” (3,90 € ), sung in the summer evening. We choose the food: – Sauerbraten by type of house with Coburger clubs and salad of season (13.50 € , – Rodeo-Rumpsteak from the grill with butter beans and herbal butter, plus roast potatoes (19.50 €). The light brown sauce, much lighter than the dark brown sauce in the rhenic sour roast, tastes excellent and has a fine acidic note. The Coburger Klöße – as a city guide has already predicted us during the city tour – is a poem. They're literally on the tongue. Never eat so delicious cookies! The salad is fresh, crisp and consists of various green salads, tomatoes, cucumbers and radishes. The dressing tastes excellent, slightly sour, how homemade and tastefully remembers acidic cream. Rumpsteak, as desired medium grilled, is juicy and delicate. The butter beans are prepared with plenty of fresh bean wort and bacon cubes. For a long time, don't eat so delicious beans, my better half judges, and that's something in the face of their cooking. The roast potatoes are crispy, well seasoned, delicious, brown, but not burned. While my wife after this enjoyment can not resist a sweet conclusion – chocolate with egg liqueur and cream (5,50 €, see photo – I am satisfied with a raspberry spirit (3,10 €). Two spoons of chocolate ice lie on an egg liqueur level and are garnished with liquid chocolate, cream and cocoa powder. Cleanliness There is nothing to do here. And after walking to the toilet, my wife also reports a perfect cleanliness. The price/performance ratio Good and convincing! Good goods, good performance, all worth the price! The conclusion We both judge the food with five stars. The service is good and has earned its four stars, such as cleanliness and price/performance ratio. The outdoor gastronomy is a beer garden in quotation marks. For this we give three stars, but with regard to the outside we only used. We cannot judge the ambience by the volatile impression of a good conscience. Overall rating: Four stars, a visit to the “Loreley” is worth it!"
