"It's a bit hard writing this review as the staff were so lovely and helpful but the food was just barely edible. My husband and I both got breakfasts, me the smaller size, and both our eggs were not cooked properly. They were still like jelly and cold , hope that makes sense lol. The rest was ok. My husband loves his food but was not impressed by this. It's a shame as it looks very nice and clean. Really nice staff just not good food unfortunately."

"Our first visit here, and our first inside dining experience after lockdown, and it exceeded our expectations. What a fabulous place. The weather was awful, but I imagine on a lovely day with the bifolds open, it would be even more stunning. The service and...food were both excellent. We had asparagus, avocado and beetroot starters between us; and fish chips, a steak, fish pie and the slow cooked beef as mains. portions of the crumble for afters. This place is a gem, and even though it’s a bit of a trek for us to visit: it’s well worth it."

"We came as a family last Sunday and couldn’t believe how cute the little building was on the outside and transported you back in time when you stepped into the tea parlour. Our host was Stacey who was really friendly, funny and attentive. We decided to go get a selection of the classic afternoon tea and savoury afternoon tea- both were so tasty and made to order. The bread for the sandwiches was so soft, the fillings especially the egg mayonnaise was creamy and not eggy in the slightest. The cheese scones and pork pie were delightful too (Stacey told their secret to making the cheese scones so light and fluffy). The onion marmalade was so moorish we ended up buying a bottle to take home. The classic afternoon tea was also delicious with everything being well presented, sweet but not too sweet and plentiful (we took a doggy bag home). The presentation of our afternoon teas was lovely and we loved the china as it dates back from the early 1900s and some from the mid-late 1800s. I have to say that this is the best afternoon tea I’ve had in the U.K. and after travelling and living abroad. It is definitely worth booking going, you won’t regret it and I can’t wait to go back!"

"Immersed in the chance to get a table for an evening meal. the bar staff was very friendly and courteous and brought a bowl of water for our dog. we both ordered starters who were plentiful, hot of good quality, both had served the piece of the day (play) with chips veg, which was again plentiful, hot of good quality. would definitely recommend pre-book as was busy."

"I had a group for this restaurant, I tried to book a table, but no one answered the phone, so we just arrived on Friday night. My partner and I don't live in Malton, so it was a planned trip for an evening... meal. When we arrived, we had to wait until the staff finished their private conversation in another language. Then they tendered us and we asked if we could eat there with our groupon. They said that if we had not booked, we cannot (and the restaurant was empty). You said they can't serve us food berries people come at 8:00 and they can't eat enough for them when they serve us?! Really? We thought they were kidding and laughing, but they weren't. I told the lady that I blew, but nobody answered and she said I couldn't have because she was there! Extremely rude as I said the truth! At some point they said yes and we sat down and we got another explanation from Beacuse that we had a group and had not booked. I was ready to go, but as we had already paid, we stayed at the meal that was okay and left. While we were waiting for our food, there was another couple who had drinks outside. They came in and asked to see the menu as they thought to eat there they got the same story we can serve you because we may not have enough food for the people who come at 8:00! shocking! The employees were more interested in their friends and smoking than accentuating themselves."
