"I always feel I am experiencing a “special secret“ dinner in a private location when visiting this restaurant, that I am not sure I want to “out”. We have been coming here for many years now and it is the one place that is consistently exceeding expectation in terms of food and service. The owners are extremely knowledgeable about their fresh produce and wines, plus their staff are also very attentive, you never feel like just a number or holiday maker when coming here. Upon arrival we were given a complementary appetiser of bread, aioli and olives which was a lovely touch. My husband and I shared the burrata salad, which was an enormous portion with some of the best tomatoes we have experienced, my son went for the chicken skewers that were equally delicious. We then opted for the fillet steak (perfectly cooked), coq au van (which was presented beautifully) and the chicken saffron risotto, I had been dying to try a risotto all holiday and was not disappointed at all with this, as it was very delicate and so tasty. Finished off with a lovely bottle of red (chilled to the perfect temperature). I cant wait to return and I hope the husband and wife duo continue with this excellent concept. "I 'm not a particularly sensitive person and in my opinion other people 's poor attitude is their problem not mine but the owner manager of the Spud Murphy establishment in Costa Blanca leaves a lot to be desired. They made us feel like we were trespassers when we entered their restaurant. At 7.30pm there were a significant number of empty tables outside that all had reserved cards on them so we went inside to find a free table and found a few, however we were stopped before we could get to a table and abruptly asked can I help you? as if we 'd entered somewhere private. Trying to ignore the sharp tone of this individual we asked if there was a table for 2 anywhere and were informed nothing available for at least an hour, in other words go away we don 't serve walk ins ! Unimpressed with the attitude of this business owner manager we walked out and it was the best thing we could 've done as we found McCoys (see separate review) So thank you owner manager of Spud Murphys for your poor people skills which led us to have a great night with excellent food, friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere at McCoys"
