"We are from California and wanted authentic Mexican food. We ordered off the “normal menu”. After ordering our food I noticed a menu written in Spanish that had items that weren’t on the “normal” menu. I inquired with the waitress the difference. She informed me that was the “Spanish” menu. I asked her to bring it to me. She did and there were items such as “huevos rancheros”, and “lingua” “cabeza”. I was happy. THIS is what I wanted. I’m not a Spanish rice person but their rice was amazing. I don’t like restaurant enchiladas but theirs was tasty! Definitely try this place for authentic Mexican food."

"We were sat immediately for our reservation but nobody bothered to come by and take our order. We were waiting for well over 30 minutes and decided to finally just leave and go get food at a restaurant that actually wants to serve their customers because no one bothered to come by and at the very least offer water or anything."

"There’s a plethora of vegan options for Mexican food at El Cantaro to choose from. We ordered a vegetable enchiladas and a chicken enchiladas. Both the enchiladas were pretty spicy as they were drenched in hot sauce but the overall taste was satisfying. I’d recommend this place for vegan food lovers as there aren’t a lot of vegan options in Monterey."
