"Called in the Plough one weekday and was a bit disappointed. There were a few people in but there was no atmosphere and we didn't really receive a friendly welcome. 2 beers to chose from, Tetley and a golden ale, the other pump was off. We didn't eat so I can't comment on the food. I guess the positive reviews on TA must be based on dining. I'm afraid I won't be returning, it's just a pub I've never got on with."

"My friend and I visited macclesfield for the first time on Friday. we have researched where we like to have lunch to consider any restrictions that could affect our trip. we have sent plums kitchen by email to see if we need to book in advance. they immediately replied that we did not have to book. when we arrived, the place had a beautiful decoration and a great atmosphere. it was nice and clean and they observed rules/guitars that were very soothing. we sat at the big table near the window and the young woman who served us was really friendly, polite and professional. they had a great selection in the offer that all looked very appetizing. my friend ordered the salmon salad on flatbread and I had the halloumi salat on flatbread that were delicious and cheap. we had both softdrinks as it was a really hot day and they also provided a bottle of water. we really enjoyed our first visit in plums and will definitely visit again when we are next in macclesfield. I can highly recommend a visit."

"Slow service, rude staff. Waited 20 mins for a cocktail, the rest of the table had received theirs. Mine sat on the bar for 5 mins but when I approached the bar to collect (as god knows how long it would take to deliver), I was told it had to be brought to me. Then ensued confusion between the staff with whose drink it was. Ridiculous. Won’t be back."
