Mi única queja es que el horario es limitado, de 1 a 7 (de otra forma hubiéramos cenado en una visita adicional, pero estaba cerrado y la segunda visita en que comimos ya estaban recogiendo las mesas). "I felt like having a great steak on my last night in CDMX. Checked Trip Advisor and found Meson Gaucho a 5 minute walk from my hotel. Across the Paseo de la Reforma from the Angel,of Independence, then two two blocks west. While I was...checking out the menu, the waiter brought a basket of warm bread with a couple of salsas. I am a red wine drinker and prefer it at room temperature, not an automatic match in México. I ordered a creative house salad, Ensalada Meson, of chilled Romaine lettuce, with a thick slice of tomato in the center of the plate and the lettuce arranged around it, each with a slice of Mozzarella on it. A tasty dressing with some ground nuts. I selected a Bife de Lomo, sort of like a Filet Mignon, medium rare. I could have had it butterflied but did not. It looked bigger than the 200 grams, about 8 oz, shown on the menu, and cooked perfectly. It arrived on a sizzling platter and I chose to leave it on the platter, keeping it hot. I had a creamed spicy as a side. It was ok, but not great. It had some canned corn mixed in. The cream sauce was too thin and did not adhere to the spinach. Next time I will opt for the baked porato. Two glasses of a wine called Las Fincas were a perfect match. Meson Gaucho is a new addition to the neighborhood and I welcome it. For sure I will go back. The server was excellent on his first trip to the table he was speaking good English. When I spoke to him in Spanish, he went back to his first language. With a tip a little over 20%, I was stuffed for a very reasonable bill of about $40 usd. The decor was luxurious, but not overpowering."
