"While staying at the Rancho Banderas Resort, located about half way between La Cruz and Punta de Mita on the north shore of the Bay of Banderas we wandered north along it’s great and long sandy beach (Playa Destiladeras – the best in the Puerta Vallarta area in my opinion) to a small intimate restaurant attached to Los Veneros Resort and Beach Club, a fine resort condominium in its own right (refer to their website).There we were always welcomed by genuinely friendly staff and settled into a beachside table to watch the sunset. Of the 10 days we stayed at Rancho Banderas we had dinner at El Violli on three nights as we were always greatly served with fine, well priced cuisine. We usually selected the special of the night prepared by their very talented chef. For example, one night I had a Shrimp Fillet, which was one of his creations made by wrapping giant shrimp around each other and then wrapped together in bacon to mimic the traditional beef dish Filet Mignon. To say it was delicious is to understate the meal.This is an unknown restaurant to most visitors as it is not (I could be corrected here and please do if I am wrong) available to the visiting public given the Los Venerous Resort private status. So access is from walking down the beach and finding the resort and this restaurant – a very worthwhile adventure especially at sunset. Visit the Los Veneros Resort and Beach Club website (linked in this review) to determine access but do consider El Violli as you select from the many fine dining experiences in this area."

"The location and restaurant ambience is excellent and this is one of the few places where one can have lunch, as many of the better restaurants only open for dinner. No fancy food at this particular lunch but what we had worked. (tacos, burgers and beer)"

"Enjoyed dinner here on our recent trip into La Cruz. I had the fish of the day, Mahi Mahi in an orange sauce. It was great, like all my meals I've had in La Cruz the seafood is so fresh. The service was quite unique in a good way. Roberto is a lot of fun with his comedic and relaxed style. He was a lot of fun. The décor is really nice as well with ceiling fans to cool you off as well.I would definitely go back."

"This place is a little hidden but once you get their you will want to eat all their dishes (which isn't many but everyone is with the freshest seafood and so tasty)I think they only have seafood but so fresh that it's unlike anything else"

"Masala is my favorite restaurant in La Cruz and one of the best in Banderas Bay. The atmosphere is classy and lovely and the service is very professional and friendly. It's where you go when you have a special occasion to celebrate, want a romantic dinner or simply an excellent dining experience. My friends are always a little surprised when they walk into Masala from the little village road outside. It's like entering another world. Their 'special of the day' , which includes a starter and dessert along with the special entree is always an excellent value as well as delicious. I've had their seared tuna, pasta Alfredo with prawns and an especially tasty chicken breast stuffed with spinach, pine nuts and goat cheese with a creamy sauce. Everything is always done to perfection and the chef takes a lot of time on the presentation as well. My husband is hoping to try every item on the menu while we're here this season. Highly recommended."
