"My teen daughter had not eaten any lunch so was very hungry when I picked her up at tea time from her part time job so suggested having fish and chips for dinner. We don't eat fish and chips very often but have always been disappointed by the inedible offerings at other shops in the town so drove further to go here after having good food here on other occasions. We weren't disappointed. I'm a big eater, and usually get the large cod, but as I knew the portions were large, I decided to go for the regular size this time. Thank goodness I did! The fishes were huge, with only a light, crispy batter covering and were non greasy. It was nice that the batter hadn't stuck to the paper when we got our meals home too. The chip portions (We had a regular portion each),were huge too and we struggled to eat it all. Chips were delicious too, crispy, with nice soft centres and non greasy and hardly any thin ones with no substance that we hate. The oil tasted fresh and hot that they were cooked in, even though there was barely any grease at all. I thought they'd given us large portions by mistake as there was enough for 2 in 1 portion! Lovely quick, takeaway meal, and we'll definitely be returning, even though it's not the nearest shop to us."

"This is the first negative review I have written. I invariably want to share good experiences. The experience here was truly dire. I ordered cod and chips but was told that there was none left (7.30, Sunday evening). I opted for the salmon fish cakes and chips instead. The fish cakes appeared to have been deep fried and they were greasy and tasted so odd that I couldn’t eat them. The salad bar food was basic, tired and unappetising. Even the peas were sad and overcooked. The chips were ok. The restaurant smelt bad (as if tables were wiped with dirty cloths) and didn’t look clean. Partner said toilets were not good and from our table we could see toilet paper trailed out of the gents left lying in the restaurant floor (see picture). Staff were doing their best but seemed overwhelmed. Tables were left uncleared for long periods. This was undoubtedly the worst meal and worst dining experience I have had in decades."
