"This is our favourite place for our girls lunch. We discovered Baxter Tavern because its roughly midway between my home and that of the other ladies who live in Rosebud, Nyora and Narre Warren. We have been to Baxter Tavern several times and would highly recommend it, that's why we have kept returning a few times a year for the last 8 or so years.Love the atmosphere, everyone is so friendly, its sort of like the old fashioned pub. They have lots of open fires blazing away in the winter to keep everyone snuggly and warm while eating and a separate gaming area room where they supply free tea and coffee for those playing the pokies.The food is absolutely delicious, I have always enjoyed their food and never had need to complain. They do have large servings, often striving to get through it all and never left there hungry. Great variety of choices, they have different specials on different days.You select your own table, go to the counter to order and pay, tell then your table number from a stand at the table you have chosen and they bring your meal when ready. Service is usually reasonably fast and they clear the table quickly when you're finished leaving you to chat and take your time, no rush to get you leaving as they have plenty of tables throughout 2 areas.Not sure what it would like on say a Saturday night though as we've only been for lunch during the day, I assume pretty packed though as I'd expect it would be quite busy.Plenty of car parking, easy access and departure as its on the corner of Baxter-Tooradin Rd and Fultons Rd (which is the extension of McClelland Dr Frankston) and they have driveways on both roads.They also have a drive through bottle shop and accommodation but I've never used either of these services."

"Managed to finally talk my husband to a meal for this mother's day. He hates disappointment!! Our last time was six years ago. Poor me! I was so excited when I didn't have to cook or wash. My big thought was this mother's day I can relax. So I ordered our meal on the phone and was told the order would be ready in 25 minutes. 20 minutes later. My job was gone and we got another one. Same order, but an earlier number, so obviously it was a while in the warming area. I wasn't happy, but thought I wouldn't make a scene. So I took it home. Very disappointed. It was just lukewarm. The chips, fish, Dimms Sims and potato cake were all soggy. It was yuk. I was very disappointed at $44. I'm a pensioner, so $44 is a lot of money. So guess. Hubby says no more outliers. Thanks Pearcedale Fish and Chip shop. My mother's meal was spoiled, and my chance to have a few simple nights in the future is gone. This shop does not recommend unless you go and order...wait and know you get a hot, freshly cooked batch."

"Cons:* Burger meat was burnt (the resultingly dull charcoal flavour was offset at least by tasty beetroot)* Chips were floury and tasteless* Dim-sims would have also benefitted from extra cooking time* Potato cakes were almost wafer-thin* Person who took the order over the phone, while competent, did not sound exactly cheerful* Prices ~10-15% more expensive than a local competitor Pros: * Still well-priced compared to fish and chips and takeaway stores generally* Bonus 1.25l soft drink thrown in when spending $50 or more is a nice gesture"
