"We went for a caravan because we didn't want to eat. we did not want the burgers with chips, and they were happy to sell them as takeaway without chips at the same price for a little focus on the $.in this time, and a bit more on the customers, would be in order."

"I visited in September 2015 based solely upon the good TripAdvisor reviews thus far. Overall good value. But I will say now that it is certainly NOT the best fish and chips. To be the best, you have to hand cut your own homemade chips...like they do at Lifeboat Seafoods in Brooklyn NSW. The chips at Macfisheries are obviously frozen from a packet. But that small quibble aside, they were still very good considering. They were cooked extremely well and were non greasy. I had grilled fish which was full of flavour and tasted delicious. They put some sort of herbs on the fish and it was just really yummy. The English from the servers was very poor but some how I struggled through by lots of pointing. The service was quick and I got exactly what I ordered. The two negatives for me was the Tartare sauce which was just horrible – the worst I have ever tasted guessing that came out of a bottle. The other negative for me was the general appearance of the place. It was not dirty per se, but it did have a slightly grubby rundown appearance. Grease stains all over the fryer hood, counter had crumbs all over it. And the guy cooking the chips kept scratching the back of his head; certainly big no no where food hygiene is concerned. These sorts of things probably don’t bother other people, and other people will think I am anally retentive to even mention it. But that is what comes from years working in the hospitality industry – I notice things like this. Had I just walked past without first reading the reviews here, I would have kept on walking based on appearances alone. So the Very Good rating I am giving is based on the taste of the takeaway only. If I had to rate on the overall shop appearance (which was very off putting to me personally , then that would be a bad rating. If I can put my neuroticism on cleanliness behind me, I am happy to go again for the fish and chips :"
