"We walked in and was made to feel as welcome as a fart in a space suit from a guy dressed like he'd just been on stage with The Happy Monday's he barked at us the took us to a table. The food arrived and it had coloured chips well one was green. On leaving payed by card and it didn't go through, we sat and finished our drinks we where about to leave when a waitress rushed over shouting. You can't leave you've not paid. As the whole pub looked at us. The PDQ machine wasn't working properly so we paid and left with no thanks.... we will not be returning and we only live in Pocklington."

"I am a from French speaking student from Toulouse abroad at York University and I have lived in England for years.I was out with friends at a sports social, It was O’clock and I then went to get a first drink for myself...and I was told I was not going to be served! I asked why and the man said it was because I had a too much to drink and he could not understand me because of my accent. I waited for minutes asking to be served and he then told me to go away. I then had to get my friends to come back up with me to the bar. They then ordered me my drinks but the bar staff told me I had to leave because they remembered me from before. My really great friend Lily then talked to the people behind the bar about my accent and that I was from France but they still did nothing and I was forced to leave. My friends left with me and we went somewhere else. If you are not natural a English speaker this place is not friendly!"

"Great Sunday Lunch. Am not surprised that it was so busy. Very dog friendly, but only in the garden or the small bar so make sure to book a table if taking your dog. Only 2 beers on hand pump Theakstons Best Bitter and Pennine Hair Of The Dog... but good choices. We chose the small meal which was actually quite big but saw several people eating the adult size which was pretty massive. We were told the roast beef was well cooked so had pork which was excellent. All really good. Traditional puddings were also really great. Super lunch at a very reasonable price. Brisk service from a hard working and very friendly staff. Will be coming here again ."
