"If I could give this place ten stars I would. We arrived just after noon and we were fortunate to get a seat. The place was well booked up that told me we had made a good choice. We both had fish and chips and it was just perfect. We left very satisfied and went for a good coastal walk. We came back later on for a coffee and staff still served us although it was closing. They could not have been nicer. It was exceptional service and we really appreciated the coffee. Returned to the reataurant a fortnight later and it was just as good again."

"I had a nice dinner tonight. Here's a little jewel. the staff is very friendly, the atmosphere is beautiful and the eating is delicious. I had a wonderful steak, cooked for perfection with heggiss and whisky sauce. I would recommend the ship inn to everyone."

"Reasonable priced and very fresh fish. Fish is sourced sustainably which is a big plus. Did not have to wait long at all even though it was fairly busy. Would highly recommended!"

"We were attended to by two young women who seemed put off to serve foreigners. Any questions we asked about the food (such as portion size) was met with snickers and looks of dumbfoundedness. Once our ordering was complete, the young women, in plain sight of us, started talking about us and laughing at us. Not what an out of town family would expect on holiday. The food was GREAT, however the unwelcomeness overshadowed the entire meal."

"Highly recommended. My husband surprised me with a seafood platter for my birthday at la Mirage. We did a 160 mile round trip and it was 100% worth it. The platter needs to be ordered 48 hours in advance. It was certainly the freshest sea food I have ever tasted. Absolutely sublime. Home with a doggie bag as we couldn’t finish it all. Being presented with a birthday dessert was a lovely touch. Not expected by anyone but really added to the day out. The service was first class. The waiter was attentive and checked in with us regularly. We also enjoyed chats with the chef and owner. Both extremely courteous and keen to give us the best experience. I have read some folk making reference to the odd decor. It’s maybe a bit kitsch or old fashioned for some people but those of us in the north know the history of La Mirage. I’m personally delighted it’s not changed much over the years and feel it only adds to the ambience of the experience. La Mirage has always been renowned as one of the best fish restaurants in the highlands. I can honestly say it’s still my number one today."

"Place looks like it hasn't been tend to for years. Rooms are disgusting and everything looks like it is falling apart. Had to wander around the place to find someone to check me in as no one was to be found. Same for breakfast, we just helped ourselfs until someone finally showed up. Rooms: 1 Service: 1 Location: 2"
