"Returning after an absence of 18 months, I was not the least bit disappointed. I rate about one in ten of the restaurants I review on this site as a five. O Tipico deserves the rating. The establishment represents small city Portuguese traditional cooking, ambiance, and hospitality at its best. The daily menu offer more than the usual number of choices. So far, everything I've tasted has been excellent. The Sopa Lavrador with which I began today's lunch was perhaps the best vegetable based soup I can remember eating. The preparation of the polvo lagareiro was exactly perfect. The wine list remains vast for a small city restaurant. As I dined on my own this trip, I wanted only a half-size bottle of white. Unlike most restaurants, there still was a more than adequate selection of wines from quite a few regions to choose from. You will pay a bit more here than in many other places, but it's worth it. I took the narrow gauge train from Aveiro to Águeda specifically to eat here. The meal was well worth the half hour each way on the train and the ten-minute walk from the station."

"The Condado is good.You get an honest,good quality meal.The fish dishes vary daily but my faves are the hake fillet or the squid and,as for the meat,it is always tender.They do great bar snacks:steak sandwiches , francesinhas etc served with cool finos (beer on tap)-delicious!Bean and meat stew (feijoada) and tripe (tripas) are tasty local dishes for the brave. Very attentive service and prices are average ."
