"We have been to Shearwater Tavern before and I gave it a slightly better review. This time, the waitstaff was slower and kept saying it was a “crazy night” but it didn’t seem to be terribly busy...just normal for the season. One of our party received their meal before the rest...which would be okay, if the others came out soon after. But 10-15 minutes passed, then the power went out. We waited and got 2 more meals in the dark with the last arriving a good 30 minutes after the first! We basically watched each other eat. Still, the food was good. The cocktails were very good. $170 for 4 people, including tip. One shared appetizer, 4 entrees and 6 drinks...pretty reasonable for Maui."

"The restaurant was very noisy to the point of discomfort. The menu was interesting, the food very good, and the service outstanding which makes me uncomfortable not to recommend it, but the noise level overwhelmed its good features. The restaurant has hard surfaces that reflect the noise. The louder the customers were forced to speak, the worse the atmosphere became."

"I had been turned off by a few people because I LOVE prime rib. I had just heard great things about the restaurant. Unfortunately the whole experience was disappointing for us. We had reserved at the open table and requested a stand. When we got there, the hostess didn't confirm our reservation when we told her we booked them online and still got us to a table. She was our waitress and was pretty good. The drinks were well made but small for the price. We ordered the prime rib. I got the girls cut and my husband got the kings cut which is about a $ 20 difference in price. When they came out, they were exactly the smaller portion I ordered in length and thickness. We ordered medium rarity (which it came off like), but it had no flavor and was extremely tough. If there's one thing I love almost as much as prime rib, it's ranch dressing. It was chunky and tasted terrible. (and no, it wasn't blue cheese) To get our USD 100 bill at the end of our meal, we were both utterly disappointed with the entire meal. The quality did not reflect the cost."

"Excellent sushi fresh fish is incredible. Sauces for the fish chips are amazingly unique? clear all made in the house. Husband said it was for him at 3 in Sushi all the time! Go eat here, you won? Open pretty late for reservations the same day! Very friendly wonderful atmosphere throughout the place!"
