"The vegan plate was absolutely delicious. there were so many thoughtful elements to make the set eating many different aromen and textures that we didn't know what to expect when we ordered it, so it was such a wonderful surprise to be presented with a beautiful, healthy, delicious meal! it cost us only 1,100 yen that we couldn't believe that all work in the position to make it. we had a long chat with the chef (which is also the owner) after the meal and he assured us that everything in the Vegan plate is vegan and made by scratches. we have just asked if there is fish, meat, milk or ice in the meal and he said no. it was clear that he understood what vegan means. he also stressed that the fresh products are produced locally, which was wonderful to hear. we have lived 4 years in shimoda and unfortunately there are not many vegan options in the small town. we wanted to eat at short notice and called two more restaurants that say that they have vegan dishes that they needed 1-3 days ago. other bar naminami needed only one hour to prepare our meal so that we do not believe our happiness. we left the restaurant happy and full of customer service was friendly and great. the restaurant has a cute Hawaii theme and it was cozy and warm inside (despite a cold winter day outside we will definitely order the vegan plate again! note: make sure they call in advance and ask for the vegan plate to give them at least 1 hour."

"Not as crowded as Shirahama beach. Out of the beaches in Shimoda, Sotoura is our top pick. It is family friendly and you can definitely have a good time with your kids. Waves are not that strong. They have public showers which costs 500yen per 5 minute and some floaters rental. The parking lot is conveniently located so you don’t have to worry much if you have lots of stuffs to bring."
