Based on the average rating of 4.3, the Sotoura Beach is definitely worth a visit.

What likes about Sotoura Beach:
Not as crowded as Shirahama beach. Out of the beaches in Shimoda, Sotoura is our top pick. It is family friendly and you can definitely have a good time with your kids. Waves are not that strong. They have public showers which costs 500yen per 5 minute and some floaters rental. The parking lot is conveniently located so you don’t have to worry much if you have lots of stuffs to bring. Parking fee 2000Y, beach OK kids friendly. Toilets are terrible shame! , and free showers are not in service to force you to use 500Y coin ones.

"Amazing little caffe hidden. the journey to her worth. we had the tofu sandwich and summer noodles, amazing plus ice cream and freshly made cranberry cookies. Eating was great, so many options, all made fresh. beautiful it area, very relaxing. friendly staff, English also speak"

"Delicious and affordable Japanese bento delivered to their door. we asked naoko if she could make two different types of bento, as we wanted to eat one for lunch and one for dinner. she said yes and prepared two delicious lunchboxes for us. I talked a bit with her when she broke the food, and she explained that she didn't have to go to the super market to prepare our bento. everything was made from products that she had picked up in her garden tomorrow. so amazing. shimoda has not many options for vegan, so I am really happy that I found them on happy cow."

"Shirahama has come to a small time. I went to Japan to become an adult. It was so white! I was surprised. It seems that the sand is imported from Australia. There is no waste and the water is clear. It is wonderful that there is such a beautiful beach near Osaka city. The parking lot is free of charge."
