"Following a long hot day going around the Colesseum and other sites, upon walking back to our car we spotted a group of restaurants. The Gargani greeted us swiftly and took our orders. We had pizza again (this happened a lot ! : and this was very good. They had air con machines helping keep us cool which was pleasant as not all did. The turnaround, cleaning the tables and courteous manners was excellent and the cost for being so close to a historical site was not too high either."

"We found Casa Coppelle by accident. It was near our hotel and we walked in and asked for reservations for the next night. What a fortunate find. On arrival the next night we found the atmosphere elegant, quiet, sophisticated, charming and comfortable. There was jazz music (Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, etc) playing at just the right volume. Service was impeccable. The staff was friendly and hospitable. They were attentive and professional but not overbearing. Our meal was excellent. We both had antipasti. My wife had the duck and potato with Brie. She said it was one of the best things she had ever eaten. I had the foie gras with brioche which was sublime. My wife had the pigeon breast for her main course and it was perfectly cooked (slightly pink in the middle) and delicious. I had the rabbit Cappellacci with truffle, Parmesan and pumpkin. It was superb. To us, the atmosphere, the service and the food were perfect. But there were two other elements that became apparent as we enjoyed our meal. One was portion size. The antipasti were both hearty and we were worried that we would be too full when the main course came out. But, the main courses (mine a primi and hers a secondi) were perfectly sized and matched our appetites precisely. We were pleasantly full afterward with just enough room for dessert. The second thing was timing. We never felt like we were having to wait for food nor were we ever rushed. Service and food came with just the right timing. I don 't know if this was a happy accident but it seemed integral to the high level of service. This was not an inexpensive meal but neither was it exorbitant. Given how every element of the meal came together so perfectly we felt we got excellent value for the money. All-in-all it was a wonderful dining experience. I use the word 'experience ' because all of the elements of a fine meal came together perfectly. We agreed that this was among our top five dining experiences and possibly the best ever."
