"No, seriously, that's what you get here. Freshly roasted chestnuts, either in Kyoto or Tianjin style. This is a Japanese street food delicacies usually reserved for the cooler autumn months, but fortunately available year in Hisaya. Bags come in three sizes, you can mix and fit, and more than not they roasted to order, which means you need to wait a few minutes. Chestnuts of Kyoto are smaller, more nutrient-rich and dry — if you have roasted chestnuts from a street vendor on the east coast or in Europe, this is very similar. Tianjin chestnuts are much bigger and sweeter and have the consistency of a solid baked potato. I can't say I have a favorite; they are both good, so I always order a mixed bag. There are other elements on the menu such as drinks and cookies, but I have not been able to have a direct response from them to the ingredients (plus 99% of Japanese confectionery have milk anyway) so I have only done so that they do not exist. You still want to come here for the roasted chestnuts."
