"At the end of our winter sports holiday we headed home, left quite late and hungry. There are no longer open restaurants in the area, except for a small, attractive restaurant at the foot of the mountains. Idyllically located in a small village, next to the church tower, a parking space nearby. We entered an empty restaurant and asked with our best French if we could still eat and to our luck our question was answered with an enthusiastic 'Oui, bien sûr! ' At the bar probably a regular who spent his Sunday evening with a few drinks. We were allowed to take a seat in the middle, close to the fireplace, where we were greeted in such a friendly manner and better English was spoken by this French family than we had heard all week. We had a delicious meal there, the meals were prepared in the kitchen with care and love by grandmothers, mothers and husband (we assumed). There really was no other place we would have rather ended up in than this. We were so warmly welcomed, we had a delicious meal, had pleasant conversations, were served so kindly and ended our holiday on a warm note to continue the rest of the journey."
