"Courtpaille is part of a chain of steak/grill restaurants across France. They are done to a formula as far as decor goes, so if you've been to one and liked it, you will feel at home in another one in another location (sort of comfy fake rustic farmhouse feel to the interiors).Extensive menu includes all the usual grill items plus salads and desserts. Their "1961" menu celebrates their heritage, albeit at today's prices! - there is 'la carte' as well as set 'les menus' options. Good helpings (steak came with pile of good fries and mini mountain of green beans which were piping hot), good wine choice (for a chain) and very reasonable prices. The 'Les Houches' location had great snappy 'service with a smile' and the place seemed almost full by 8pm, which given it's rather remote location on the edge of the village, was encouraging. Outside terrace for hot evenings. Would go again."

"Randonnée à découvrir absolument en famille si vous séjournez dans la vallée de Sallanches/Combloux/Saint Gervais.Il ne faut qu'une 1 heure 30 de marche pour arrivée au refuge et contempler les chaines de montagne. Quelle récompense.J'avais 4 ans la première fois que je me suis assise sur les bancs du refuge, 6 ans quand j'ai mangé ma première soupe d'orties !A plus de 40 ans aujourd'hui, je parcours les sentiers aisément en pensant au menu qui m'attend. Si vous ne connaissez pas le Facement savoyard c'est le moment !un pain de pommes de terre au lard et aux pruneaux... un régal... qui vous tient chaud au corps et au coeur !De l'authenticité comme on aime."

"The lunch for vegetarians was very limited. As my wife eats fish she chose sardines. We were surprised when these were served as an open and cold tin of sardines complete with the oil they were packed in. Not appetising. Not a good day for...French cuisine. Restaurant was crowded with locals and so service was not fast."
