"We stayed in this restaurant hidden in the green, on the French road leading to the hill of Tenda. We discovered it by chance, when we decided to take off from the long queue to enter the tunnel and try again the climb to Italy after lunch. It was late, but we were welcomed. We were just the two of us and at first we seemed to wait a little too long for the course, but then we realized the reason. We've been prepared all the time and I have to say it was worth it. Warm Neapolitan appetizers delicious, fried but not heavy. Homemade stuffed dumplings, with a sauce of homemade nuts with a real goto of nuts and totally different from the industrial one. A huge mixed salad, which would quietly feed three people even if we asked only one portion. If we hadn't been in a hurry, we would definitely have taken dessert. We spent 28 euros and I think it's a fair price (especially compared to the average price of the blue coast from which we came). The family that runs the restaurant was very kind and caring and made us feel really pampered. Too bad for the location, maybe a little too hidden."

"Hosts Angelo and Marina offer lodging and meals in Casterino, France. This tiny hamlet deep in the mountains offers a great base for a variety of mountain adventure. We stayed at their gorgeous lodge for 8 days with no repeat of dishes on the menu of the day, and at least one extraordinary offering at every meal. Great food. An ala Carte menu and terrific cellar complement the overall experience. Angelo is a great sommelier serving with Italian enthusiasm. Some nights the restaurant had many guests not staying at the lodge; others we were surrounded by other guests. A special place worth the effort it takes to get into the high country where history and nature have many things to offer visitors. This is at the southeastern edge of the Mercantour National Park, very near the border between France and Italy."

"Wood panels with a inviting log fire very cozy, especially when its very snow-covered outside. there was a selection of 2 set menus a 3 curs 'menu des merveilles' for 19 euro and a 4 course menu 'logis de france' cost 24...euro a la carte was also available. the menus were largely similar to the 24 euro menu with a hot and a cold starter. desserts, pasta, terrine, tartes, healed ham and smoked salmon were all made in the restaurant I had cured the house jamboncru to begin followed by magret de canard in homey followed by 2 small cream brullees excellent value for 19 euro. service was friendly, efficient and welcoming the wine selection was good and there was no pressure to take the most expensive bottle, all in all that we had a brilliant lunch and we hope to go back soon."

"The welcome is very nice. An aperitif on the terrace has been proposed to enjoy the sun!the scented savoyard is very good, even if the royal version taken for 3 people offers only a very sumptuous cutlery tray, for an extra charge of 8€/persons compared to the version without cold cutters. The white wine recommended by the waitress is excellent, even if a little expensive (27€the bottle).The heated room in the stove is very pleasant after a snowshoe or cross-country ski ride."

"We had a fantastic stay at the Auberge Sainte Marie-Madeleine. The room was cosy, and comfortable. Just what we needed after a hard day's playing in the snow. The Owners were very charming and welcoming. Dinner was great. The dog sled tour is definitely recommended. All together it was a great weekend and we will be back! Thanks to all."
