"I've been here before and while the wait was long it was worth it. Heard they were under new management/ownership. Place looks totally different. Ordered two sandwiches and sides. Waited over 2 hours for the food and it was terrible. The chicken fried steak was burned and the chicken sandwich was cold with bones. Don't waste your time or money. I expected more for $50 sandwiches."

"So we showed up with a group of 6 at about 5:30 p.m. on New Years Eve, 12/31 2023. Dining area was closed due what we were told was being under staffed. We attempted to find seating in the bar area a few empty bar seats, as well as a couple tables)and host said we could move a couple chairs to be able to sit together. Bartender then said they could not accommodate our group, nor could we even sit outside on patio. Wouldnt have been much of a problem to move a couple seats around for us, but I guess they weren't interested in any additional business. Lousy customer service, won't be back."

"We absolutely love the Indian Lodge and have been coming here for many years. The Black Bear restaurant is a great space in a great location but unfortunately the food produced here is unappetizing and equivalent to what you'd get in a cheap frozen dinner but at the price of something homemade. We visited for lunch today around 11am. There were no other customers in the restaurant. We waited by the door and finally someone came to the front and told us it was buffet because he had limited staff. We said that was fine. The menu was chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, hot dogs, fries, and a salad bar. Everything on the buffet was the cheapest quality imaginable. The chicken fried steak was a frozen puck type of patty, the mashed potatoes were instant but reconstituted with too much water thus flavorless. The gravy was watered down too as was the ranch dressing on the salad bar. It really is disappointing and we wish someone could take that restaurant over and offer a quality meal, even with a limited menu, that would be a better reflection of such a beautiful hotel and it's natural surroundings. While I highly recommend staying at the Indian Lodge, I cannot recommend the restaurant."

"Im putting 2* not because of the quality of the beers which are good, or because of the service.I 'm putting 2* because of the NO-CASH policy. It is very wrong to force people to pay with credit cards, some people prefer to use cash for various reasons, like not having a card, having to pay international fees on transactions, it is discriminatory, and helping make banks richer, pretty ironic when their most known beer is called The people 's beer .I will be living full time in Davis in 2026, but i will not visit this location because of that no-cash policy"

"Good home cooking, good service, and clean. I had a good fish sandwich and my husband said his hamburger steak was the best he's ever had. Their strawberry cake is to die for and the servings are enormous so you may want that to go. If they haven't run out of strawberry cake when you get there, order it to go immediately so they don't run out while you're eating."
