"RI Food Fight- Wings ReviewWe were drawn into Wharf's Southern Kitchen Whiskey Bar via a coupon for the RI Food Fight for wings. We happened to be close by and are attempting to try as many places as possible. I love the feeling inside. I felt like I was nestled away in a pirate bar. Dark wood, beams, old windows and shutters were used as decorations. Mason jar lights, pictures painted on composite board wood as art. A funk paisley with warm browns and creams as the seat covers. When we first walked in a little past 11am. We were greeted by an employee who immediately alerted us the kitchen doesn't open until Noon. She stated that was the first day of new hours. This was not posted on their website. What are we going to do for 45 minutes? No reason to just up and leave as we went 25 minutes out of our way to have their wings. We made it work with a 2 year old and an 11 year old in winter. Sucked but made it work. Our waited id thank us for returning. I can say, if we didn't have the coupon for the wings we would have gone somewhere else.We went with the Carolina BBQ wings, kids sliders and an order of crispy chicken skins. I likes the Carolina wings. Crispy, but maybe too well done. The flavor was good, not too overpowering. The kids food I did not try. My beef- the sripsy chicken skins. Were they removed from the dryer too soon? They were soft on the inside, like mushy. No te gusta!Bottom line: this is a tourist trap location."

If I were her boss, I would send her to a holiday (maybe The Florida Keys? as a thank you for what she brings to the company. And the food is especially excellent at this price. Great place."

"Salad was really small, maybe 15 pieces of greens. Ranch dressing was good. We were told vegetable soup was not ready and we could take it to go if it was ready when we were finished eating. Salad came before soup. Onion soup came with unmelted cheese. Steak had a funny taste. Leftovers were brought home and thrown in the garbage. Management leaves much to be desired. Menu pricing for steaks is non existent. All steaks say market price . Understandably, prices change. However, having to ask every steak price to figure out what to order does not make for a pleasant dining experience. My best guess is the highest price steak was 44.00. Not sure if they serve dessert as we were not asked if we wanted any. Check came before we were finished eating. Bottom line. Will not go back and will go to any chain Steak house (including Steak and Shake) before dining here again. This deeply saddens me as I was unaware ownership may have changed and for years The Grease Rack was THE place to go in Newport for steaks.
