"Believe it or not, our recommendation for this gorgeous century inn came from a table mat! My parents have a set of famous English pubs' placemats and this is one of them. As we happened to be in the area, visiting the superb Cotswolds...Distillery, we thought we'd better try it. The Black Horse serves Thai food. A lot of pubs that are converted into restaurants lose their pub character altogether and I was a bit concerned that the Black Horse might be one of them. However, I am delighted to say that the bar and lounge areas still represent a good, traditional English pub with a cosy atmosphere and, by all appearances, a thriving trade entirely separately from the restaurant. The restaurant is housed in a large room with the same old stone and wooden beams as the rest of the inn. The menu is extensive and varied. Prices are fair. Service was very friendly and efficient. All of us found our meals to be absolutely delicious. Oddly, neither desserts nor tea appeared on the menu. Not a big deal but worth bearing in mind. Overall, a really enjoyable lunch. The Black Horse Inn is not on a table mat for nothing!"

"Having recently moved into the area we where so looking froward to trying the local takeaway boxing day. We collected five dishes plus Nans and salads the hot meals are in thermal envelops with a one word scribble which we guess described the contents...totally Indecipherable ! the chicken legs and wings had not been dressed pior to being coated with the Tandoori paste and cooking they still had all the uneadable normally removed bones and tendons etc very unpleasant !"

"Cash only, which in only means a tax reduction exercise. Food was disappointing, with no flavour and obvious bottled sauce in the Szechuan dish. So sad, as we are new in town and looking to frequent local eateries."

"We ordered our meal and within 20 minutes it was with us...Suspicious in itself! When we unwrapped everything the food looked like it had been either refried or sat around for a while. The Crispy duck wasn't! The whole thing tasted like something you bought from poundland at a discount price. The Chicken balls were so overfried that they were burnt brown Black with sweet and sour sauce that was niether sweet or sour just simply blaaa! The chips certainly were left overs from lunch time or night before refried within an inch of losing any substance. Chicken curry wasn't spicy at all the sauce again just tasted of Blaa!! All in all a very unpeasant experience where the Boss should have a long hard chat with either the chef or the quality control manager. I have graded the service 4 Star but this only because it arrived very quickly. I have graded the Value 1 star based only on this experience. I work as a warden at a local caravan park and guests ask constantly about local good take-aways, On this occasion this is not one of them I would reccomend."
